The Basics, Setup, Requirements, Security

What can I use SurveyGizmo for?

SurveyGizmo is for more than just surveys. You can create and launch great-looking online surveys along with web site quizzes and polls, landing pages, contest forms, registration pages, contact forms, and multi-page questionnaires.

Are you a hosted or installed solution?

We are a completely hosted solution. Our servers do the work, not yours.

What are the system requirements?

There’s nothing you need to install; SurveyGizmo is 100 percent web-based. You do, however, need one of the following web browsers: Internet Explorer 6+, Firefox, or Safari.

Are IT skills required?

Absolutely not. SurveyGizmo has a user-friendly interface and helpful wizards to guide you through the process of creating, tracking, and reporting on surveys.

Is my data secure?

All accounts are password-protected, and only account holders can access your account and data. Pro plans bring you more permission options for users in your accounts and Enterprise gives you Custom Teams that can be configured. You can choose to share your reports with people who don’t have a login, such as your CEO — but that’s up to you.

Do you support secure surveys (https://)?

Enterprise plans can take advantage of secure-socket surveys (also called SSL or https:// surveys) to encrypt your survey and data during the respondents session. You turn this on optionallyon a per survey basis.

Do you access my data? What about the email addresses I send surveys to?

Your data is all yours. Period. We don’t touch it. We don’t harvest email addresses, nor do we use any of the data you collect in your surveys. Your data will never exported, sold, rented, or used in any way by SurveyGizmo. It is your data, and we will protect it to the very best of our abilities.

Data Gathering

How many surveys can I launch per month?

All our plans include an unlimited number of surveys.

How many questions can I ask in a survey?

All our plans include an unlimited number of questions per survey. Free accounts are limited to one-page surveys, but those surveys may contain as many questions as you need.

How many responses am I allowed?

The number of responses varies by plan. Please see our Plans & Pricing page for details.

Are responses rolled over from month to month?

No. If you go over your plan’s allowed response total one month, you start with a blank slate the next month. Or, if you do not hit your response limit one month, you start the next month with your plan’s allowed response total.

What happens if I go over the survey responses allowed on my plan?

SurveyGizmo will continue collecting responses and mark them as “overflow.” You can pay a few cents per response to unlock overflow responses. Upgrading your account will also unlock your overflow.

I don’t want a survey taker to submit more than one response. Can I limit the number of responses from an individual?

Yes. One of SurveyGizmo’s features is Survey Duplicate Protection, which allows you to specify whether a respondent may submit multiple responses. You can implement this based on a respondent’s IP address or on cookies.

What other features does SurveyGizmo have that provide for better, more accurate data collection?

Input masking, format validation, as-you-type formatting, pop-up calendars and in-survey feedback all help reduce data entry errors, so you’ve got cleaner data to work with. Plus, you can randomize options for questions and answers and use built-in A/B split testing and data collection.

Can I cancel and take my data with me?

Not a problem. We just run the surveys; you own all your data. Exporting is a big part of our survey software, so you’ll have no problem getting your data. (See the Reporting and Exporting section of this FAQ for how-to details.)

What if I want you to delete my data?

A written request to permanently remove all response data from our service will be answered in no more than two business days. SurveyGizmo will reply with written confirmation that all files, database records and backups of this data have been destroyed. Data cannot be recovered after this is performed.

Designing

Do you offer survey templates?

Yes. We offer customer service satisfaction, contact forms, job application forms, newsletter sign-ups and landing page templates. And, you can copy any of your own surveys, or start from scratch.

What about customizing the survey’s look and feel?

You can have as much or as little control as you want in the design, layout, and look and feel of surveys. Just a few of the customizations include tweaking the width of the form, the font size or font family, the text color, the background color, and the Submit button text.

Can I make more sophisticated changes to the template design?

We offer fully customizable XHTML/CSS Templates. You can modify the look of a survey by adding CSS to your survey that acts on the survey’s ID and Class names. You can also include images, logos, or CSS files from your site.

What question types are available?

SurveyGizmo contains 17 different question types, including textbox, essay, radio buttons, drop-down menu, multiple textboxes, checkboxes, ranking, continuous sum (also known as allocation), table of radio buttons, table of drop-down menus, table of checkboxes, table of textboxes, stars, group contact information, group customizable, repeatable question blocks, and file upload.

Do all users have to see the same questions in a survey?

Nope. SurveyGizmo has dynamic page logic, which means you can show or hide questions based on user choices. It also has branching so that you can send respondents down different paths in a survey. And piping lets you push answers from one question into other questions, answers and pages.

Can survey respondents upload files?

Yes, they can. Respondents can upload any type of file. For example, they can upload Word docs, Excel files, JPEGs, etc. You can specify the file type and maximum file size.

Publishing

What are the options for publishing surveys?

You can publish your online survey in its own page, or embed it right into your web site by using a snippet of Javascript or an iframe. (At this point, none of our competitors offers the ability to embed surveys in web pages.) You can even run it in a kiosk (closed loop). Use our SurveyFeeds tool to set up a schedule for continuous contests, sweepstakes or landing pages.

If I publish a survey on a web page, do I get a customized URL?

Yes, if you’d like. We allow for URLs such as companyname.surveyname.sgizmo.com. And Enterprise accounts can have custom subdomains of their website (for eg., surveys.surveyname.companyname.com.) Ask us for more info.

Are the surveys secure?

Enterprise and Pro users can take advantage of secure-socket surveys (https://) to encrypt sensitive information.

Can I automatically schedule survey deployment?

SurveyGizmo allows you to use surveyfeeds, which let you keep one consistent web address and schedule different surveys into it. (For eg., mycompany.weeklysurvey.sgizmo.com)

Tracking

How quickly can I see results? Do you offer real-time tracking?

Yes. You can see results as soon as the first response rolls in. When a respondent submits survey answers, the data show up in the survey results within 5-10 minutes.

What other information can I track?

You can track abandon rates and conversions in real time. Knowing how many people view a form versus how many submit it can be invaluable.

Is there a way to track surveys from outside SurveyGizmo? Do you have a widget?

Our open API allows for tracking integration into your own web site or application. We also provide the SurveyGizmo widget for Mac OS 10.4.3+ and the SurveyGizmo plugin for WordPress. Each allows you to monitor responses.

Can users track their own progress through a survey?

Yes. You can insert a progress bar that shows users how much of the survey has been completed and how much remains.

Reporting and Exporting

Can I export the survey data?

Yes. You can export data in CSV and Excel formats, and you can export survey questions in text format.

Can data be pushed to outside sources?

Personal, Pro and Enterprise accounts have access to an Action type called HTTP Post. This is used to push data to outside services such as email lists, newsletter signups, customer databases, etc. You can transmit outside information to other services including SalesForce.com, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor, etc.

What formats can I use for reports?

You can view reports online in their unique URLs, or you can export them as Excel files. Reports contain eye-catching graphs and charts that can be pasted easily into PowerPoint presentations.

How flexible are the reports?

Along with different report types, you decide which questions to include and whether to include text responses as an appendix. We also feature sophisticated question-filtering tools for Personal, Pro and Enterprise accounts. You can run multiple filters and add or delete filters at any time. And, you can choose a date range of responses included in the report.

Are there any other report options?

Yes. These include the ability to append essay responses and contact group info to reports, to show percentages only in table question and ranking summaries, to round percentages to the nearest whole number, to leave N/A answers out of calculated percentages, and to keep or exclude partial responses in a report.

How long are my survey results stored?

You have unlimited access to responses, reports, and data exports.

Integration with Outside Data and Apps

Will SurveyGizmo integrate with our company databases?

Yes. You can send and receive information to and from outside web sites and databases.

Do you have partnerships with any Email Service Providers?

SurveyGizmo is integrated with ExactTarget so customers can send invitations, track responses, subscribe respondents to newsletters and trigger auto-responders from a survey.

Can I integrate your API into outside apps?

Yes, the open API can be integrated into outside applications. We know that sounds pretty geeky, but let us know if you’re an interested developer and we’ll fill you in on the details. Here are a few things you could do with our API: integrate with your intranet to watch your surveys, offer surveys as a value-added benefit to your own application (like an email service provider), or build widgets and plug-ins for a CMS.

What add-ons are available?

The Apple OS X Dashboard Widget allows you to keep up with progress on your surveys and view in real time the number of surveys in progress, completed, abandoned, or partially completed. The SurveyGizmo WordPress plugin makes it easy to quickly edit, preview, or grab your publishing links.

Plans and Pricing

How much is SurveyGizmo? Can I use it for free?

There are four SurveyGizmo plans ranging from a completely free plan to paid plans from just $19 per month. We encourage you to sign up for a free account then decide later if you want to upgrade after you’ve used it for while. (You can use the free plan for as long as you’d like.)

What’s the difference between the free and paid plans?

Paid plans allow you to collect more responses per month, and they also give you access to more features. But with all our plans, there are no set-up fees, cancellation fees, or long-term contracts.

Are there any hidden fees?

Nope. Nada. Zip.

Do you offer discounts for educational or non-profit organizations?

Yes. The typical discount for educational and non-profit organizations is 50 percent. Please contact our sales group for more information.

What are the billing options?

Free accounts are, well, free. For the other accounts, we offer monthly credit card billing. In addition, Pro and Enterprise accounts have the option of biannual and annual billing.

Can I pay via check or be invoiced?

Certainly. You can request an invoice, and we accept checks upon request for biannual/annual billing.

How many users can I have per account?

Enterprise accounts may have up to 20 user accounts. Pro accounts may have up to 5 users. Personal and Free accounts are for a single user only.

How do I upgrade/downgrade my account?

Once you are signed up you can click on “Account Settings” in the right corner of the window and click on the “Upgrade” tab. In this section you can either upgrade to a higher level or downgrade to a lower level account.

What if I want to cancel my account?

You can cancel at any time, and we will delete your data upon request. Or, if you’re using a paid account, you may prefer instead to downgrade your account to Free.

How do I cancel my account?

To cancel your account you need to downgrade to the free plan. Login and hit “Account Settings” in the right corner of the window. Then click the “Manage Account” link, wait for the page to load, scroll down and change your plan type to “Free” and hit the Change Plan (Using Credit Card) button. That’s it!

Support

What customer support do you offer?

All paid accounts have access to free email support; our customer service team will reply in 24-48 hours, usually less. In addition, Enterprise account holders have access to priority phone support.

Do you offer design and consulting services?

Yes, we do, for an additional fee. We can do things such as consult on survey question design or create custom-designed templates that exactly match your branding.

What’s the difference between the free and pay plans?

Paid plans allow you to collect more responses per month, they also give more question prototypes to use in your surveys. There are no set-up fees, cancellation fees, or long term contracts.

ahh, i found what i was looking for in the Plans and Pricing link. :)

Thu, Nov 16 2:37 pm Comment by Barb

We are looking for a survey software we can use at a tradeshow. Basically, we want them to take a short 4 or 5 question survey and in exchange for the survey, they will gain free internet access from the computer they just took the survey on. Is this possible? If so - how and with what type of set up?

Sun, Dec 03 7:31 pm Comment by Byron

Barb - I would imagine that you can use their API feature to programmtically verify survey completion and upon such verification grant the computer access. It would take some development effort, but the information you would require to make it happen could be fed to your backend via their API.

Hi- do you have any sites I can visit to view your surveys in the ‘real world’? I’d like to get a better idea of how it might work for me. Ideally I’d want to create the survey question/info on my web site - then to interact with it- answer question or to view the question and all response options I would link to a page hosted by you? thanks- Lisa

Wed, Jan 17 1:43 am SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Hi Lisa - We don’t have many customers’ whose surveys we can freely share, but here are a few.

These are landing pages and contact forms:
http://sherpa.bookoffer.sgizmo.com/
http://www.surveygizmo.com/support/

These are examples of some survey templates
http://www.surveygizmo.com/surveybuilder/preview_survey.php?id=739
http://www.surveygizmo.com/surveybuilder/preview_survey.php?id=174

Yes you have things right this is how it works. You use our website to build the survey then you can embed the survey in your website. You also have complete control over the survey design so sometimes it’s easiest to make a stand alone survey look like your website.

You usually return to our website to view the data, report on it, or export it. The best way to learn about our application is grab a free survey account and try it out.

Have fun and let us know if we can answer more questions.

Thanks
Scott

I need to download my data into SPSS for analysis. Is SurveyGizmo set up to do this efficiently?

Thank you.

Fri, Jan 19 6:24 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Hi Jen,

Survey export to SPSS is probably coming later this year. At the moment we have export via text file (CSV - comma separated values).

Thanks for posting and we have noted your interest in SPSS.

Scott

Hi Jen,

Just a little side note — we are looking for people that will test our SPSS export.  The more people we have testing the sooner it can be made available.  Feel free to email us at support (link lower on this page) if you would like more details about the progress we have made.

I can not figure out how in the world to EDIT survey while in design mode. There is a link to do so, but once clicking on it, there are no options at all for editing any of the question verbiage or answer types. This is very frustrating. I’m currently using FREE version just to see what it is like. Is this editing feature only available in the Paid Version? Is so, why does the ‘edit survey’ link even appear?

Fri, Feb 02 1:43 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Hi Heather,

To Edit a survey simply click it’s name from the survey builder home page (your Javascript needs to be turned on by the way). This will bring you to the Survey Editor page with several tabs for editing various features. You want the “Edit Survey” Tab to change and add questions, reorder them, etc.

Hope this helps.

Scott

Fri, Feb 02 3:36 pm Comment by Heather

Thank you Scott. My Java Script is turned on, I can move the order of the questions no problem, but am unable to edit text or detete questions. Nor do I see any buttons at all that even indicate you can do that. Let me know what you think. Is it common for someone to have their java script disabled? If so, how does one disbale/enable it? Just wondering so I can double check…but, I’ve never had this issue before and my brower and computer are brand new, current software versions, etc.

Fri, Feb 02 4:00 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Hi Heather, Yep if you can reorder questions then your Javascript is definitely turned on. I have a hunch the problem might be related to the large graphic you have in the survey. I think in some browsers too big an entry there could push the buttons for editing off the visible area. I set the image width to 500 pixels just to be safe.

Here is what I see in your account - note the 3 buttons: Notepad = edit question, Two-Pages=copy, Trashcan = delete.

editor

Does this help clear things up?

Fri, Feb 02 4:40 pm Comment by Cathy Derecki

Is there any way to make survey responses anonymous? If so, we’d be interested in the Enterprise edition for our institution.

Fri, Feb 02 4:48 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Hi Cathy,

Survey responses are anonymous by default. Typically you need to ask for some personally identifiable information if you want to know who a respondent is. We’d be happy to discuss your specific needs to see if SurveyGizmo can meet them.

Thanks for visiting.
Scott

Fri, Feb 02 4:51 pm Comment by Heather

Scott, thanks for fast response. you are right. I don’t see those image/icons on the left. Did you say that you resized the image arleady on the recent survey I’m working on? If so, I still don’t see the buttons, though DO see when I roll over that same area that there are supposed to be some buttons there–its just blank. If you didn’t actually push that resized log above to my recent survey…then where do I change that. I can’t find which template this is being pulled from. Last question. I promise. :)

Fri, Feb 02 5:42 pm Comment by Heather

Scott, I just figured it out. A lot of the features (editing, drop down, color box for backgrounds, etc) don’t work on the current version of IE, IE 7. I figured that out after I went into my account via firefox, and everthing worked fine. FYI–pass that on to your engineers.

Fri, Feb 02 5:58 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Thanks Heather - I look into that ASAP. Sorry for your frustration and we appreciate you sticking with it.

Fri, Feb 02 6:10 pm Comment by Heather

No problem scott, Im able to edit the actual questions now, but don’t see a way to edit the answer type. (i.e. text, to essay or drop down, etc) Where is the feature to do that?

Fri, Feb 02 6:42 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Hi Heather, Right now there are only very limited abilities to switch between question types (only radio buttons, check boxes, drop-downs).

So if you decide you need to change question types you typically need to just add the question again with a bit of cut & paste. The reason is that the data structures are so different between different question types there isn’t an easy way to map from one to the other.

Fri, Feb 09 4:46 pm Comment by Diane

As the survey is anonymous, how would someone who completed my survey receive a reward via email ( ie coupon, gift certificate, discount)

Fri, Feb 09 5:48 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by admin

Hi Diane,

There are a few ways to accomplish this. You would either need to ask for their email address in the survey (obviously not anonymous) or use our Email Invitation feature to send to a list you have already. You could alternatively provide their perk (coupon, etc) on the thank you page of the survey rather than email. This would allow it to be completely anonymous.

For Professional (and Enterprise) accounts we also have a Web Content action that lets you register the suvery taker with your shopping cart software and display a personal coupon code that is unique to that individual. This requires that your shopping cart has an web-based API.

Thu, Feb 15 2:08 pm Comment by Romain

Do you plan to make localized version of your surveys template ? Or at least, allow customization of page title, “please select” label, etc. etc. ? Thanks.

Thu, Feb 15 4:14 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by christian

Actually — you can do this already (if you know CSS & HTML). Each survey has it’s own copy of a template — so you can modify the HTML, default text and CSS on a whim. Right now you need to know a little css to make that happen — but we are working on an editor that will let everyone do this (regrdless of technical skill).

If you have any questions with specifics Romain, feel free to let us know. We are always willing to offer a little design & survey advise.

Please define “response”. Are separate questions within a survey regarded as a response? Example: If I have a survey with 20 questions and one applicant completes the form and hits Submit, is that one response or twenty?

Sun, Feb 18 1:01 am SurveyGizmo Comment by christian

Hi Skarld,

Your example would be a single response. A response is one complete survey (from first page to last). It doesn’t matter how many questions you ask.

At the end of the survey, I would like a chart to be after the “Submit Survey” page showing the result of the information collected from all the responses, is this possible?

Hi ibadukefan,

This feature isn’t currently available but it is a feature coming later this year.

Can we share survey results with responders right after their survey completion?

Sat, Mar 03 9:56 pm Comment by Mahatapa

You had asked about interest in exporting to SPSS .. I would like to know if this is possible, or where things stand now.
Thanks

Mon, Mar 12 8:29 pm Comment by Chris

What does it mean that the free account only allows one account login? Thanks.

Tue, Mar 13 12:11 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Scott

Hi Chris-
One account login means there is one username/password associated with the account. If there is more than one person needing access you’ll need to share the login.

The Enterprise and Pro accounts allow you to have separate logins for each person in your organization.

Tue, Mar 20 3:51 pm Comment by todd

what security exists for the results on our free accounts?

Tue, Mar 20 6:37 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by christian

Hi Todd,

Free accounts have almost as much security as paid. In fact, the only thing you are missing is SSL enabled surveys – which paid accounts get at the Enterprise level. SSL protects your data even as a survey taker is answering questions.

Our server-side security is considerable. I can’t go into too many details on a public forum. However your data is isolated in a secure database in a secured data center located in San Antonio. No one can access the machines directly without getting past both electronic and personnel based security.

The only persons who can access your data are our technical support staff (and only with your permission).

Feel free to email me if you have more specific questions. I’d be happy to give you more detail offline.

Hi, I am wondering if response time is recorded, and if it is possible to have timed presentation of a piece of text.
Thanks!

Fri, Apr 13 11:29 am SurveyGizmo Comment by Scott

Hi Corinne,

Response date and time are recorded, but I don’t understand what your looking for on the “timed presentation of piece of text” can you describe?

Sat, Apr 14 4:00 pm Comment by Donna

I am a master’s student developing a survey for my thesis - but all of my sample population may not have access to internet - is there a way to print the survey so I can mail it to them? and then how do I enter their data? enter their responses on other copies of my web-based survey myself?
I also plan to export and analyze with SPSS - so I will be anxious to here how that’s working

Fri, May 04 5:55 pm Comment by Whitney

My colleague and I have been testing out our survey in the free version but would like to purchase the pro plan. Does our free survey automatically transfer over when we pay for the updated version? We don’t want to lose all our work so far. Also, do we have to use the same login and password from the free version for the survey template we’ve been using to transfer to the pro version?

Fri, May 04 8:07 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by SurveyGizmo

Hi Whitney,

All you need to do is upgrade your plan on your Account Page. This will keep everything (surveys, logins, etc) just the way they are now.

Thanks for using SurveyGizmo, we’re really glad you like it!

Also feel free to ask questions in our Forum it’s great for things like this.

Wed, May 30 2:39 pm Comment by dana

Is it possible to edit surveys that have already been submitted?

Wed, May 30 2:51 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Christian Vanek

Hi Dana,

You sure can — each survey has an “edit” link in the browse-responses section. That will re-open the survey and allow you to make edits, then re-submit it.

Hi,
Just wondering if the Powered by Survy Gizmo has to show up each time a survey is deployed? With no disrepect, is there a way to hide this?

Wed, Jun 27 4:36 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Scott McDaniel

Hi Ray,

No disrespect taken. The Powered by emblem is a big part of our marketing as you can imagine. One of the benefits of the Enterprise account is the ability to remove this.

Thanks
Scott

Fri, Jun 29 11:37 am Comment by Mike

I wanted to know if there was a way to allow for someone to save their responses part-way through the survey and return to complete the survey at a later time?

Mon, Jul 02 2:42 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Scott McDaniel

Yes users can return to finish a survey at a later time. All survey takers receive a unique URL specific to their session when they are first given the survey, so if they want to return they need to return to that URL by bookmarking it. (this is a different than the survey url link they clicked to get there in the first place, it is unique to them)

It’s usually ideal to tell your users in the survey at the top of every page they can bookmark it if they think they may not finish in one session. It’s also a good idea to tell them that only answers on submitted pages are saved, so for example, in order to save page 2 you need to proceed to page 3.

They will have 7 days that the survey will be open for editing after that it will be closed. When they come back they will be brought to page one and they can review or edit their existing questions or simply page up to where they left off.

I will also copy this question to our forums, which is a great place for these.

Can people save the survey they are answering and return to it…instead of having to complete it all at once?

Thanks.

Yes they can! They can actually bookmark thier survey in thier browser and return later.

Does “month” mean a single month, i.e. “November” or does it mean “30 days”? If, for example I wanted to start a survey on November 28, close it on December 14, am I paying for 2 months or 1?

Thanks,

Wed, Nov 14 6:59 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Chad

It means 30 days from when you signed up your account. For instance if I were to upgrade my account on November 28th and downgrade on December 14 I would only be paying for one month of service.

It doesn’t matter when I create my survey it matters when I upgrade and downgrade my account.

How do you get the text box option to a multiple choice question to show the value option you’ve assigned it? At present, my report (graph) shows the answer the respondent gave plus: “Other (please specify)”. I just want “Other” to display on table & graph.

It would also be helpful to know what “lock in place” refers to in table options.

Many thanks from a newbie.

Hi there!

In your report options check to see if you have the option ‘Use Report Option Titles rather than Report Values for multiple choice’ checked off.

(It might be worded a little differently.)

If it’s checked off I think unchecking it will work for you!

BTW, better report builders are on the way!

Cheers,

Thanks Christian.

I made the change but I’m still getting the answer to this text box question multiple choice question as the descriptor on the graph and table in my report. A real puzzler.

If you have any more suggestions, it would be much appreciated. Would it have anything to do with that ‘fix in place’ option?

Thanks for the help.
Heather

Hi Heather,

It shouldn’t have anything to do with Fix in Place (which simply stops the option from randomizing with the rest of the options).

What’s the name of your survey? Mind if I take a quick look?

I had an e-mail from SurveyGizmo Support & he told me that the “other” text box option must be displayed as the answer given by respondent.

I have simply added another text box question to the survey for people who selected “other” in the question above.

Once again, thanks for all your help.

My office is looking for a new web survey solution that is accessible for deaf respondents. Can Surveygizmo surveys be read (heard) by screen reader software such as Jaws?

Hi, Allen.

I think you meant for the blind, right? Yes, SurveyGizmo surveys can be read by screen reader software such as Jaws.

My images/logos, which were working moments ago, now are reporting an error when I preview my survey. Any image on the website (such as theme options, examples, etc) is also absent. I tried rebooting my computer, etc. The only thing I did was add questions to the draft of the survey. Is this a technical problem with the site and will it resolve itself? Or is this something I must correct?

Hi Kristen,
Can you try it again? We had some DNS problems should be cleared now.

Hi,

I will be sending a survey via email to 6 separate email lists and I am trying to figure out a way to create separate URLs for each list and track the responses as both aggregate and as separate lists.

Is this possible? Any help in this direction would be great.

Thu, Feb 21 12:23 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Chad

Hi Tracie,
You can do this through the query string. All you have to do is attach a query string variable to each of the 6 different URLs. For example:
surveylink.com?group=1
surveylink.com?group=2
surveylink.com?group=3
etc.
In this case the query string variable is group and the values are the number 1,2,3 etc.

We just added a new feature to our reporting system that lets you filter on query string variables! Now you can generate a report for a query string variable without having to bring it into a hidden field in the survey. You can even export your data with the query string variables included.

Hope this helps,
Chad

Hi,

I have a couple survey questions like this:

Please rate the importance of the following on a scale of 1-5, where 1= not at all important, 2 = somewhat important, etc.

I set up these questions Table/Matrix of radio questions with a single answer per row table type. All of the row options are checked off as required, and the question in general is marked as required, but when previewing the survey I am not forced to stop before moving forward in the survey if I have not answered these kinds of questions?

Can you help me?

Thanks,
Tracie

Thu, Feb 21 6:37 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Chad

Hi Tracie,
It will work fine in live mode. People were just getting tired of checking off many rows of required questions, many, many times when testing.

We plan on giving you the ability to turn on/off required question in preview an option in the future.

Hope this helps,
Chad

Please help me understand the difference between abandoned surveys and partial surveys? I see that you can convert partials to completed. What is abandoned? Did they not complete enough quesitons to be valid? Why can’t we convert the information that they did present?

Fri, Mar 21 6:53 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Chad

Hi Elisa,

An Abandoned survey is when a respondent clicks on the survey link (enters the survey), but doesn’t click to the next page (submits data).

As soon as the respondent submits data and moves to the next page, but does not reach the Thank You page they are considered Partial.

Once the respondent goes all the way through a survey to the Thank You page they are considered Completed.

You cannot convert the information of an Abandoned because there is no information for that respondent.

Hi,
I am evaluating your software with the free account as of now. I would like to go in for the Enterprise plan and wanted to know how much will it cost for per response after I exceed my limit of 50,000 responses.

Thanks,

Mon, Mar 24 1:14 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by cheri

Hi,

Responses over 50,000 for an Enterprise account are 3 cents each.

If you have needs that far exceed 50,000 per month, you may be interested in a Dedicated Account. We can put together a custom package that meets your needs but may be more economical for you.

If you would like to know more about a Dedicated Account, contact our sales division.

Thanks!

I have been asked to complete the data entry for partial surveys for the NIH Facilities Benchmarking Survey. However, there is no way to do that and the survey is coded as closed. How do I utilized the same templete to create new surveys?

Mon, Mar 24 3:35 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Scott McDaniel

Hi LJ,

You have a couple options. You could use Browse Responses to find the Partial response and then click it’s Edit link to finish it there by turning it into a Completed survey.

If you are trying to start an entirely new survey based on the one you have now, you simply need to click ‘Create Survey’ from home and then select your old survey as a starting point.

LJ - Since you have a paid feel free to use the Get Help/Support link from within your account for your questions.

have a great day,

Scott

How do get a link or for the surveys to show up on my blog?

I did one survey in January but nothing happened.

Hi Mari-Lyn,

After you build your survey go to the “Publishing” page in surveygizmo. You’ll see a javascript code snippet for your survey at the bottom of that page. Just copy that snippet into your blog post and the survey will appear.

Cheers!

-Christian

Hi Mari-Lyn,
If you go to your survey and click on the Publishing tab you’ll see our publishing options. To publish the link on your webpage just copy one of the survey links and paste it into your webpage.

Hope this helps,
Chad

What I’m really looking for is a website where when I post my survey I can be guaranteed a quick response to my survey questions, with at least 1,000 respondents so I have accurate data. Does your company do this? If so, what is the turn around time, and expense?

Tue, May 13 5:24 pm SurveyGizmo Comment by Chad

Hi Richard,
No, we do not do this. We have a tool that will help you create your survey, but we do not guarantee responses to your surveys. We do integrate with companies that do this kind of work though.

Try searching for paneling companies, and if anything catches your eye we can see if they will integrate well with us.

Hope this helps,
Chad
