Hi, I hope someone can help fix this asap.  I've been using this service successfully for at least 2 years and have promoted it where I work.  We recently decided to use it for an important survey.  As of this morning the reports seemed to be working correctly.  The survey is still “live” but I wanted to download what we've collected so far as a backup.  I also removed one survey that was left over from a testing phase before the survey went “live.”  Now the data is corrupted.  It seems as though some answers to radio button responses have been erased — mainly “yes” answers to yes/no questions but one other 4-answer radio button question has been affected.  I'm REALLY glad I have the backup but I'm concerned about the integrity of future responses (the survey closes early next week) and I would prefer to have the reports show accurate information rather than have to recreate everything myself in Excel.

Hoping for a quick fix.  Thanks.

Addendum — to try to figure out what was going on, I exported the data into csv again, but this time some data was missing, hence the subject line.

Hello, Christina!

I'd like to look into this for you. What survey is this happening on – and do you happen to have the response ID's of the responses that are coming through blank? Which question was it?

Thanks!

Jonathan, thanks for getting back to me.  The survey is the Learning w/ Tech Survey associated with my account.  I ran the reports successfully when there were about 25 responses then exported the data in excel form just to have a “backup.”  After that, the reports were wrong.  It seems as though the reports are not correctly counting answers to any of the radio button questions (3, 4, 8, 9, etc) and it seems like certain answers are being excluded or not recorded.  The right data shows up when I browse each record individually but not when I download into excel or run reports.  For example, for #3, a yes/no question, the reports show 100% no when I believe the answers were about 90% yes with only 1 or 2 no's.  The yes's seem to be absent from the data the report is using.  In general, yes values are disappearing/not counted and with the other radio buttons, certain values are not being counted.  Please help.  I need to use this data for a meeting tomorrow (and I'm 12 hours ahead of the States).  Thanks.

Hello, Christina!

I've fixed up your summary report – you can rerun it at any time and get positive results including both the “Yes” and “No” answers. Honestly, I'm not sure yet what was wrong.

I wasn't able to replicate the problem myself but the survey's questions have been changed since the last time you ran that report – its possible a question type or reporting value changed (like going from “Yes” to “yes” or going from a checkbox to a radio button question) , or it could have been settings within the summary report but nevertheless its fixed for now (all I did was re-run it).

I'm going to keep looking into this to see if I can find why it happened; for now, it was an obscure little problem that only effected that survey on your account and only that one report – only when you ran it, and its working now.

Jonathan — would you believe it is happening again?  Thank you for fixing the problem the last time — just in time for my meeting too.  Now we are expecting another batch of data to come in and we will need to run the reports again — probably on Sunday Japan time.  I think what is triggering the problem is the export of data to excel.  When I download the data and open it, certain cells are blank (all yes's for Q#3, for example).  After that, the reports are wrong too.

Can I ask you to fix it again?  I won't download any data until the survey is closed.

Thanks for your help — your quick reply made a big difference in my decision to continue to use this service and perhaps upgrade in the near future.

Hey, Christina!

So we found the problem – we were replicating data from our master server to another new slave server so that we could split the server load between the two servers and speed up our application's processes. It looks like we missed a very small amount of options in existing responses. We're going to finish copying those all over to the new slave and everything should be up and running, with all of your data properly available before the beginning of the business day tomorrow, msot likely sometime later this afternoon (US Mountain Time).

I'm really sorry about the confusion. If you have any other questions or technical issues we're here. :-)
