I was looking for a way to display real-time results from a survey and ran across this thread suggesting the use of embedded charts. So I added a chart for each question of my survey to the last page. I also added the 3 chart images to a page on a wiki:
http://mvpmc.wikispaces.com/Poll+Results+-+Date+Format
I’m not aware of any way to preview the thankyou page of the survey without submitting the survey, but over on the wiki page the chart images are all showing up as blank, white boxes.
The thread above also discusses this, but suggested that the problem would go away once the survey received responses. At the time I added the charts, my survey already had responses, and it has subsequently received more responses, but the charts remain blank.

Hi, Tom.
Because of the Holidays, the folks who can answer your question are out of the office until after Jan. 2.
They will post responses ASAP after Jan. 2.
Happy New Year!

Hi Tom,
Unfortunately, the charts cannot work with a ranking question. If you change the questions to a radio, drop down menu or checkbox question the charts can work with those.
You also have to select which question the chart is referring to. You can do this by advance editing the question (the little notepad icon to the left of the question) and selecting the target question from the drop down menu.
Hope this helps!

Well, 2 out of 3 charts seem to be working now. See the above URL. Not sure why the first isn’t.
On the up side, it now helpfully says “No Data To Chart Yet” rather than just a blank message.
All questions are ranking type and all have data. I just reran the reports, if that makes a difference.
In other matters, the charts that do work have overlapping text, making them partially illegible. Granted, automatic chart generation can be challenging.
In any case, you need to develop some solution that permits the unprivileged public to view real-time (no manual running of reports) survey results, if the survey author chooses to publish them.

Hi, Tom.
Those charts were only meant for simple polls. Some people requested they be added to surveys, so we added them.
The labels on the charts are run off of your reporting values. As your reporting values are long, these get all squished together in the charts.
If you could shorten your reporting values to something shorter but meaningful it will help. Of course, this won’t change for the charts where you have already collected data.
Re: Reports for public viewing. We do have the option where you can embed your survey reports in a webpage and the reports are automatically updated.
In addition, you can send PDF’s of the updating reports as an attachment to multiple email addresses.
These feature is available to our Enterprise customers.

Andy,
We don’t do google finance charts, you will need to find another forum for supporting those.

I’m having the same problem on my poll charting.
“no data to chart”
Even though it is only 1 simple question and 6 responses over the past couple weeks.
The Poll Link
Any ideas?

Cameron,
I’ve fixed this for you.. I basically edited the poll result ‘question’ and clicked ‘Save Changes to Chart’ which resaved this to our system, and your poll is being displayed properly now. I think there may have been an internal change that triggered this, should be all set now!
