i have a multiple choice question:

1. which of the following drugs have you ever taken?

alcohol

tobacco

cannabis

….

the responses pipe into the next question:

2. which of the following drugs have you taken in the past 6 months

the responses from this question then pipe to:

3. on how many days have you taken [piped drug] in the past 30 days?

this all works perfectly. BUT, i realised that for question 2, how many drugs they'd taken in the past 6 months, i needed to have a “NONE” option. so i've entered it in manually, and had the remaining options piped from question 1. so it looks like this:

2. which of the following drugs have you taken in the past 6 months

NONE

[piped drug 1]

[piped drug 2]

… and so on

the only problem is that having the NONE value in question 2 causes a glitch for question 3, and now no values are piped from question 2.

obviously, if someone selects NONE in question 2, they'll skip question 3 and be sent to another page. but, even if someone doesn't select NONE, it causes problems for question 3.

is this a bug or is there some rationale in not letting me do this???

many thanks,

faustus

Hi Faustus,

Is this your “final: religious experience and schizotypy” survey questions 8 and 9?

It looks like this is working properly now.  This was most likely due to the same reporting value being used for 'None' in both the target question and the actual option piped question.  This is solved by simply changing the reporting values so there are no possible duplicates between the two questions.

Hope this helps,

Chad

Hi Faustus,

Sorry I think I misunderstood your question.

You're piping from an option piped question that has a pre-existing option.

This is something we cannot do in the current version.  However you can do this in the next version of SurveyGizmo, and will be avaliable when Version 2 is released.

In the mean time there is a work around to this issue.  Just remove the option from the piped question, put it into the trigger question, set it as the default, then hide the option with a bit of CSS.

I copied your survey and created an example for you called: “final: religious experience and schizotypy Copy”

Hope this helps,

Chad

hi chad,

my apologies, i didn't realise that you'd made me a file and i've now realised that i deleted it.

would it be possible for you to re-create it again? all surveys in my account will have this question somewhere

many thanks!
