We ran into what may be a bug on an item that was a continuous sum question. When I have this set as a “required” item and the respondent answers 0 in one of the options, he got an error when submitting the survey. If I turned “required” off, the 0 could be entered with no error (there were no maximum or min values set on this). The strange thing was that in a second question that was set up identically, a 0 could be entered and it was fine even with the “required item” turned on. Any idea why this is happening?

Hi Will,
Which survey is this for?

I tried this out on the “Head Start Hearing Screening Data” Survey and couldn’t replicate the problem. My response id is: 7159289. I entered in 0s for the two continuous sum questions in this survey.

It might have been some other validation error like an invalid email address.

Anyway, hope this helps,
Chad

That was not the right survey. Please look at the OAE Periodic Reports survey. I currently have “required” turned on for item 2. I have found that if a 0 is entered in any of these options, then the survey gets an error message. Mind having a look again? Thanks!

Hi Will,
I’m still have trouble replicating this error. I submitted a test response to your survey you can see it as “SURVEYGIZMO STAFF TEST” and entered 0 in for both continuous sum questions and didn’t get an error.

Would you mind taking a screen shot of the error and emailing it to support[at]sgizmo.com?

Thanks,
Chad
