Hi,

I am looking for a way that I can introduce a slider mechanic – see image for example – the logic should be similar to a star rating except that it can have negative values and the slider moves locking in to place when nearest to one of the markers. I think there could also be a 2nd option where the slider can be to the very left or right and have no value associated to it – the user will then have to move the slider resting it on a score in order so that they can proceed – see 2nd example.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Matt

Hi, Matt.

It's a great idea but we don't have that type of feature. Sorry.

Thanks for your question, Matt.

Yes. I realise that and it is why I am suggesting it here. Is this not the correct space to do so? I had hoped that this post would spawn debate around how this could be achieved either with current tools, or to promote a need for such a tool for future SurveyGizmo developments.

Hi Matt,

The challenge with these kinds of things is we have to design them to be configurable to work with lots of different site color schemes and also language independent. For example, the yellow colors might clash with some designs, and the text in the box would need to be configurable as well. Not saying we wouldn't do something like this, but it has to be in the context of customer priorities.

If you're good with CSS and Javascript, this kind of thing is somewhat possible today with the star ranking question. You would need to change the background images  from stars to something similar to what you have above.

Hi Derek,

Having any element in the survey tools configurable is beneficial. E.g. being able to change the star colours, or replacing the star images entirely would be handy as would other features to configure the value of the star images, removing the need for a column header and row label. In essence, this would allow me to achieve something very similar to the slider above.

Making the above language and colour configurable does not sound vastly unrealistic. Technically plausable wouldn't you agree?

Whilst I work in the field of user experience, my background is in graphic design and not coding – pretty much why I'm using SurveyGizmo over coding up my own solution.

Anyway, as the forum title suggests, these are feature requests. Feature requested.

Kind regards

Matt

I think a slider is essential for all those who want to use this service for serious psychological or marketing research. It does not have to be fancy or have special colors, just labels for the endpoints and 100 values between the poles. Such things already exist in jQuery and Yahoo User Interface Library which are open source. It should not be difficult to make them a standard part of survey gizmo. If you did it you would acquire quite a few customers.

Hey, Matt and Dggoldst!

Thanks for the request! We'll pass this on to our development team and see if it might be something we can add to our next version of SurveyGizmo. We haven't had alot of requests for this kind of feature, but we'll definitely look into it.

Thanks!
