I am trying to capture a unique ID number for each respondent so that I can then pass it in a redirect URL at the end of the survey.

It seems the natural choice is the Response ID that I see showing up in the data. Is there any way to access this without going through the whole process of getting a developer key to use the API?

Perhaps there is a merge code or a custom script function I can use? Or, is there another way of accessing/generating an ID that will be unique to every respondent. Thanks!

Hi there Charlie!

The merge code you are looking for is [%%ResponseID%%] it should do exactly what you want.

It works in Email Auto-responders and when merges into the survey itself.

Cheers!

Is there a merge code for the actual SurveyID? I tried [%%SurveyID%%] to no avail. Seems silly perhaps, but I’d like to post back the SurveyGizmo ID back to our application for use with the API to link responses to the survey. So far I’ve been able to accomplish this passing in the surveyID as a URL parameter when we request the survey, and then embedding this using [%%GET_XXX], but it seems like there might be another way to automatically pull it using a merge code….

Thanks, as always!
Scott

(ps I don’t think the “Subscribe” link is working in the forums, or is it just me? I have a link like http://www.surveygizmo.com/forum?forum=3&topic=788&subscribe=user but I get redirected to the home page)

The merge code for the unique response id is [%%ResponseID%%]. However, the survey’s id is static, and can easily be found based upon opening your survey page and checking the uri for the following:
?id=#####

That number is your survey id.

Also, I believe you are correct on the subscribe link, we’ll have to look into the wordpress plugin. There is always the RSS feed. :)
