Hi,

I sent an email offline yesterday, but I am hoping this might result in a faster response.

I am having trouble using the A/B/C branching. I am trying to randomize respondents to see 1 of 3 videos embedded in my survey (called News Pilot Study) using A/B/C branching. I think I’ve set it up properly, and it seems to work as it should in “preview” mode. However, when I published the survey and did a test-run, it shows all 3 videos (rather than randomly choosing 1). Plus, there does not appear to be a variable in my results indicating which video was shown (perhaps because all 3 were shown?). I’ve tried to get it to work a couple of different ways, by embedding the videos all on 1 page vs. on 3 separate pages, with no luck in either case.

I also tried an alternative to A/B/C branching. I embedded all 3 videos on a single page and used the options under “page details” to program the survey to randomly display 1 of the 3 videos. This seemed to work (i.e., when published, the survey displayed only 1 video); however, there was still no evidence of a variable in my results indicating which video was shown.

Any advice you can provide would be much appreciated!!!

Cheers,
Lauren

Lauren,

Jason is not in the office quite yet. I looked into this and solved the problem. Becuase the branch was on the first page the live survey was not remembering the “random choice” it made. (Typically the surveys don’t start getting “stored” until the submit the first page.

I have fixed this so it now works. If there is a branching question on the first page it will now store the survey so it “remembers” to only show one video.

Oh, and now that it’s working properly you can see what branch is chosen for a response from the browse responses pages.

Cheers!

-Christian
