Well, I can get the hiding to work, but if I answer the question that would trigger the questions to show, the questions don’t show. Instead, when I get to the bottom of the page and click next I get an error and THEN the question shows. How do I get the questions to show when the user clicks the trigger answer to the previous question?

Hi ResearchHM

I had a mare with this the other day (it was all me I hasten to add!)

Have you gone into the question you want to act as the trigger and set the Show/Hide Trigger for the appropriate response?

I figured out (largely by reading the instructionas after the fact!) that I had to:

1) Hide the question I wanted to appear based on a triggered prior question (tick “Show/Hide
Controls:” in advanced formatting)

2) Ensure no other trigger logic was included in the “Hidden” question (leave the advanced logic & piping blank)

….Should now show as (Hidden)

3) In the “Trigger” question, on the right of potential responses, select the “Show/Hide Triggers” icon, then select the question you just set to hidden.

I noticed that if I did it this way it worked, but if I also amended the Advanced Logic & Piping, it stopped working.

Hope this helps….?!

Experimentus is right. You cannot combine piping and show/hide logic. The two are very complicated processes and even thinking about combining them makes my head hurt!

Dane,

You might want to add a help mouse-over on the Advanced Logic & Piping section that warns people this. My natural instinct was to have them all switched on to try and get it to work!! :)

Good idea Experimentus,
We try to have plenty of cool features that people can play around with and make the kinds of surveys they want to make.

But people always manage to think up unusual combinations of features we never considered when we built them. Although these combinations are strange (like lamb and tuna fish) we do find merit for them and will probablly add them to our application.

This combination in particular touches the core of the application and as such it will take time to correct this issue. But warning signs are always great.

Thanks!
