I just tried exporting the results of my survey (I filled one out myself to test it out) via Excel, and it did just that.  I even left cells unfilled, to see if they would get exported as empty cells into Excel.  But they did not.

If a person leaves a field blank, is there no way to export the column data at least and the associated empty cell, for instance, so as to signify that that person did not put a value in/respond to that field?  Eventually, I'd like to be able to standardize all the responses, so that each response will have the same columns in their Excel output, even if they did not respond to that field.

Please help - I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

V

We exclude (for efficiency) columns/questions that are unanswered by any respondent. The workaround is to submit a response yourself, filling out all questions, then when you export you will see all the columns and you can simply delete your false response ROW in the sheet. It's a workaround currently, and an issue we are looking to make an option when reporting is improved with surveygizmo version 2.

Hey again Mario,

If I understand what you mean, you're basically saying that the only work around is to answer all the questions.  Yeah, that's the only way I see it too - I'd hate to make my recipients respond with an “NA” for a field and all associated fields, but if that's the cost for having everyone's data be exportable in the same fashion/template, then that's what I would do.  I was just hoping that they'd be able to say NA in one field, and leave the rest blank, you know?

Thanks for your help,

V

Besides having to add a N/A field, you could just go through and answer all the questions yourself…and just put some identifier so you'll be able to find that one and just delete it from your final data file.
