Support Forums : "Other" text box does not appear

Hi Nicholas,

You have to do this from the Advanced editor after the question is created.

There is a column of checkboxes next to each option for the multiple choice questions that is labeled “other”

Just check it and the other text box will appear.

If you still have trouble let me know and I’ll jump in and see what I can do!

Page Randomization will be ready a little later today. Just waiting on a second set of eyes.

Regarding your “other” problem, I checked out your survey and confirmed the boxes weren’t appearing. This is actually because of the type of question you’re using (drop down). Drop Down’s currently do not support “other” text boxes, though we’ve had this feature request a few times now in the last month and are considering adding it to our development queue.

In the meantime, two possible workarounds for you:

1) Change the questions you need “other text boxes” to radio buttons, as that question type does work with the “other” check box that you’ve been using.

2) If you want to keep the drop down style, you’ll need to add additional hidden questions that get unhidden whenever a user chooses other for a particular question.

Option 1 would be the quickest and have cleanest data, Option 2 would allow you to keep your current question style.
