I am developing a survey consisting of some 5 pages
with about 10 questions per page.

I would like participants in the survey to be able to “Save”
and submit where they are up to and
revisit to complete at a later date.

What are my options for doing this?

I have a Pro Account.

Many Thanks

Jon

Hi Jon,
You can check out our FAQs here:
http://www.surveygizmo.com/faq/#linktypes

On the different survey links and which one’s to use to be able to come back to a survey.

Basically the links you should use are the Email Invite Links, or the Branded Domain link. The Bookmarked link can also work, but we’ll be phasing that out soon and giving all links the ability to re-enter a survey.

Hope this helps,
Chad

Thanks - Yes I have tried the “Email Invite Links” and all makes sense.

Can you tell me more about the the “Branded Domain” link option
Looks like this is available under the “Enterprise level account”.

Many Thanks

Hi Jon,

Yes it is only an Enterprise Account feature. I have attached a link to our forums that gives the basics. Hope this helps.

OK - so with an Enterprise Account I can have a survey appear under my web address.

But I’m not clear how the Enterprise Account allows participants in the survey to be able to “Save” and submit where they are up to and revisit to complete at a later date.

If you could talk me through how that would would work that would be great.

Many Thanks

Jon

Hi Jon,

There are 3 options so that people can save and come back later.

1.) Email Invite- gives a user a unique link. It allows them to go back and forth as much as they like (This is the preferred method).

2.) Branded Domain- Only for Enterprise Customers. Will ask user if they want to continue or start a new survey.

3.) Bookmark- only lasts 7 days, then the user will have to start a new survey.

Hope this helps.

OK - Thats clear.

Now I’m trying to decide between option 1 and 2 -

1.) Email Invite- gives a user a unique link. It allows them to go back and forth as much as they like (This is the preferred method).
2.) Branded Domain- Only for Enterprise Customers. Will ask user if they want to continue or start a new survey.

I currently have a Pro Account and would like to know more about option 2 without having to upgrade to Enterprise first.

The concept of providing a “unique” survey link from a web page rather than via an “Email Invite” sounds ideal for our purposes but I’m not clear how this would actually work.

If you could provide a little more information about this option before I upgrade that would be fantastic.

Many Thanks

Hi Jon,
The Branded Domain link (Option 2) is not unique. It will be generic for every person that sees it. The only difference is that this link will put a cookie on your computer that lets the system know that you’ve started taking this survey already.

So when you click the Branded Domain link again it will open up a dialog that ask:
Do you want to continue with your previous response?
OR
Do you want to start a brand new response?

Keep in mind cookies aren’t flawless, if some one uses a different browser or moves to a different computer there’s no way we can track them… until the FDA approves the new SurveyGizmo sub-dermal implants!

OK
So I have upgraded to Enterprise
How do I test out the Branded Domain link/cookie option.
Do I need create the CNAME record as per instructions at
http://www.surveygizmo.com/forum/how-do-i-how-does-this-work-wtf/branded-domains-surveymywebsitecom/page-1/?value=branded%25domain%251&search=1&ret=all

or can I test it out first…

Many Thanks

Hi, Jon.

To setup a branded domain, here are the steps:

1) Give your survey a friendly URL. Under the PUBLISH tab | Promote by Web or Email you can set a unique URL.

Enter in a survey name and hit SAVE URL (something like YOURDOMAIN.SURVEYNAME.sgizmo.com)

2) Now you need to setup a CNAME record on your domain.

Something like /surveys.YOURDOMAIN.SURVEYNAME /and point it to /app.sgizmo.com

Then let us know you have completed this by sending us an email at support@sgizmo.com and we’ll take care of the rest!

The CNAME might take a moment or two to update, but then it should start redirecting the URL from your site to the survey.

I hope this helps!
