I didn't go through all the posts to see if anyone else had asked about this b/c there are too many and no searching mechanism (this would be a helpful addition).

I want to pipe the name of the uploaded documents my respondents upload as part of their surveys.  When I used the piping function to plug in their responses to an upload question, nothing showed up.  How can I do this?

The Site Search (bottom left) includes forum searching as well as searching other documentation as well.

To answer your question, You would need to have a seperate textbox question asking the name of the document they are uploading, and then use a MERGE CODE (not piping, since you are only collecting a single response) for the answer to that question to display it later in the survey for your survey taker.

You can use the simple merge code wizard that is under every question to get the merge code for the textbox question.
