How can I pipe the response from one question into another question. Does this work on Personal accounts?
and
If two answers are chosen, how can I create two questions?
eg
Q1. What are your favorite sodas?
A. Sprite
B. Coke - chosen
C. Dr Pepper - chosen

Q2. How often do you drink [Coke]?
Q3. How often do you drink [Dr. Pepper]?

And…..
can these be done assuming Q3 will have piping and hiding?

thanks

Hi Judy,
You can do this with question piping. This is a Pro level feature. Simply set up your trigger question (the checkbox question), set up the question you want to repeat and advanced edit it. In there go down to Advanced Logic and Piping and change the “Pipe From Question” drop down to the trigger question.

Then in the question title you can use the [%%PIPED_VALUE%%] merge code to act as a placeholder for the value of the trigger question.

Hope this helps,
Chad

Hi Judy,
Ahhh, unfortunately we can only offer our piping feature for Pro and higher level accounts.

Thanks for taking our survey”

considered piping?

Hi Judy,

Your previous post is technically piping. However, “Piping” is a generic term and has lots of meanings. How we see it is that the [%%Invite_FirstName%%] is actually a “merge code” which is available at all account levels. This merge code is not the same as what we offer as our piping feature for the Pro Account, but is still “technically” considered piping.

Hopefully this clears some things up. Good luck with your survey!

I’ve taken a look at all the suggestions regarding piping, but am having an issue piping answer choices from a drop down menu (single choice) into a subsequent question.

I’ve noticed everyone saying to first set up the trigger/check box question from which to pipe from..does it have to be a check box question, or can I pipe from a drop down menu? Any help would be appreciated!

Here’s the format I’m working from:
Q1. What’s are the company’s 2 main challenges?
Challenge #1 drop down menu:
Awareness
Products
Management

Challenge #2 drop down menu:
Awareness
Products
Management

Q2. You mentioned that [Awareness] was the company’s #1 challenge. Please explain your answer in the box below.

Hi Jennifer,
Piping should only be triggered by a question that can have multiple answers like a checkbox question. This is because the Piped Question is repeated for every answer. In the case of a single select the question will only be repeated once, so it would’ve been easier to just make a single question.

What you actually want to use is Merge Codes. This allows you to bring in the answer from a question on a previous page into the question title. You can get the merge code from the question by clicking on the “Show Simple Piping Wizard” link while editing a question.

Hope this helps,
Chad

Thanks, Chad! I was able to figure this one out.

Now, I have another question. I have successfully piped the answers from one question into a subsequent question title on the next page. The problem is: the questions featuring the piped answers repeat themselves twice. Any advice on fixing that?

And a second issue I’m having is signing into this forum. I’m working on the survey through my Enterprise account, but the forum doesn’t recognize my username and password so I’m signed in here as a guest. What’s that about?

Thanks, Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Which survey is this in and which question is this happening to?

Actually we don’t link our application login to the forum logins. If we did then people who do not even have an account with us couldn’t ask questions on the forum.

Thanks,
Chad
