Hi folks,

I’ve tried reading through some of the forum ‘how to’ topics, but couldn’t figure it out.

Is it possible in SG to create a multiple checkbox question, then take all the options chosen by the respondant and pipe them into a continuous sum question on the next page AS ANSWER OPTIONS?

If it is, I’d really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction for it.

Thanks,

Ankush

Hi, Ankush.

Yes, it is possible to do this.

Create your checkbox question. Add another page and create your continuous sum question on the next page. Use option piping on the second page under Advanced Logic and Piping inside the Advanced Edit on the second question.

I hope this helps!

Hi Cheri,

Thanks for your help. I had tried doing it as you described and it didnt work. But then I tried again after your email, and it did work, so I am guessing that there was some detail I had missed.

However, I am now faced with something else. When I export the data as a CSV or an Excel file, the response values for the continuos sum question don’t have any headers.

Here’s an example:

Checkbox Q: Which do you like?
a. Coke
b. Pepsi
c. Water

Continuos sum Q: What proportion do you drink the things you like?
a. Pepsi ______
b. Water _____

Now when someone enters 20% and 80% on those two blank spots, the data exported only shows these numerical values. It does not tell me whether the options in the Continuos sum question were Pepsi and Water, or Water and Coke, or Coke and Pepsi. That makes the data rather useless for me.

Am I missing something here or is that the way data usually gets exported from such a combination of questions?

Thanks again,

Ankush

You’re absolutely right, there is no identifying information within the continuous sum responses in .csv exports to differentiate one value to a specific piped option. I’ve reported it as a bug to the developers so it can be addressed in the following patch cycle, which is specific to reports. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. You’ll have to view the responses directly to gather that information/correlation.
