Hi,
I have created a ranking question. When I export it to Excel, the first column shows the respondent’s 1st ranked item, the second column shows the 2nd ranked item, the thrid column show the 3rd ranked item, and so on. However, when I export to SPSS I cannot make sense of how it assigns rankings. Can you explain how I should be reading the SPSS data file?
Thank you!

Hi Michelle,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I took a look at an rank export and I see what you mean. I’ll try to correct this for you pronto so it’s reported in a similar fashion to excel.
Next Monday is the latest, but I’ll try to get it fixed, tested and rolled out tomorrow if I can!
Cheers,
-Christian

Hi, Alvis.
Your reporting values are what is appearing in your export. Since you have already gathered your data, there is nothing we can do about the appearance of the data in the download.
When you export the data from a ranking question, the data appears in the order that the respondent put the options in. Their first choice is on the far left and their last choice is on the far right.
