Hey,

i am asking the survey takers in my survey to give answers about a project. They have to answer about ten questions. Would it be possible to ask them at the end if they would like to give information to another project as well. If they choose “Yes” the survey starts again, if they choose “No” they will be navigated to the thank you page!

Hi Kelle,
A better logic flow would be to ask your survey taker: “How many projects would you like to give information on?” as an textbox question. Then you can use page piping on those ten questions to repeat the page for the number they entered.

To do this create the textbox and make sure you make it Whole Numbers only.

Then on the second page (the page you’re going to repeat) click Page Options & Logic and go down to the bottom of the section that appears. Under Piping Controls, select the textbox question from the drop down menu and check the box that says “Repeat this section by the VALUE (1,2,3,5) of the question above. “. Don’t forget to save!

Now the page will repeat for the number they entered into the textbox.

Hope this helps,
Chad

thanks for the answer!

the problem is my survey has more then one page. If I do it like you described, the questions from the first page will be repeated 5 times (if the survey taker answer the first question with 5) and then comes the first time to the second page. Then the second page will be repeated 5 times and then the third page and so on.

Did I do a mistake or is it meant to be like this? I would prefer that the survey taker answer the whole survey first and then the survey will be repeated again completely.

Any suggestions.

thanks.

Hi Kelle,
Oh I see. Sorry I neglected to read the title of this post.

What you can do is redirect someone back to the survey. This will create a new response for this person and they’ll be able to start a new survey. This is not a simple point and click operation but can be done with a little finesse.

You can do this with a Redirect Browser action. It is important that this action be on the Thank You page (last page in the survey) or the respondent will go back to the beginning of their response instead of starting a new one. It’s also important that you use one of the links on the Publishing page to do the redirect on.

Before the Thank You page you can ask the person “Do you have another project?” Yes/No. If they answer Yes you can use Redirect When logic to trigger the redirect on a Yes answer. If No, then don’t redirect them.

Hope this helps,
Chad

Hi there. I am new here so my apologies for any basic questions.

I have a survey where the 4th page carries a questionnaire (the first 2 pages are introductions/guidelines and the 3rd is for entering respondent's info).

I would like this 4th page to repeat itself as many times as the user wishes so that they answer the same questions as many projects they have. So I give 3 options at the end of this page: (1) I want to add another project (2) I want to add another project but later on (3) I am finished with this.

- Option (1) if triggered, a page 5 would ideally be generated (this is, a new blank page / copy of page 4) and at the top of this should be mentioned 'Project #2'

- Option (2) if selected, the user should be able to come back and enter ready to fill in the new page (page 5, as explained above)

- Option (3) will direct to the 'Thank you' page

I am not using the 'redirect browser' as this would make the user to go through the first pages, having to fill their details again; and, I need to add a sequence # automatically in the new pages. The user also doesn't know in advance how many projects they will add…

Can you help on how to build up Options 1 and 2? Or, do you have any alternative suggestion?

Thanks

Hello, Lala!

You'll want to either use Page Piping or Add-As-Needed Custom Groups.

Essentially, you can have a question that asks someone how many projects they have, then PAGE PIPE the “Project” page based on the numeric value of the question that asks them how many projects they have.

Apart from that, you can create a custom group that houses all of the questions about a project, then enable that custom group to be an “Add As Needed” group, which will let someone easily click to add in another of the same custom group as many times as they need.

Thanks Jonathan,

I have started putting these questions in a custom group but this seems not to work if I need to trigger questions to unhide others inside this same group. The error message I get is: 'There don't seem to be any questions on this survey page after this one. Show/Hide triggers can only toggle the visability of questions on the same page (below the trigger question).'

I have obviously put the hidden question just after the triggered one but I assume as these are in a whole group, are not considered separate questions and then I get this problem. Can this be sorted?

Show/Hide triggers actually do not work inside of a Custom Group, so it sounds like this would not be a good fit for you.
