I’ve made a survey, and used a handful of trigger questions to show various hidden questions on the page.
Question 3 has 3 choices for an answer. Each one has it’s own set of 2-3 questions that are hidden and become visible when the answer is chosen. All the questions are required.
The 2nd page has a handful of questions for all to answer.
Currently while testing it out, I’ve noticed two things.
1) When I select any answer in Question 3, the correct questions become visible. If I accidentally not answer one of the required questions and click for the next page, It notifies me that I missed that question. But, it now shows some of the hidden questions associated with the different answers in Question 3, and those are required now too that they are visible.
2) I pick an answer in Question 3, the correct questions become visible and I answer them and click to go on to the next page. Decide that I want to change a question or for some reason go back… I click to go back to that first page. Again, some of the hidden questions are now visible that shouldn’t be. The answer in question 3 is still correctly selected though.
Is there some way to fix this? Or is my only option to divide it up among multiple pages and have them jump pages to do this cleanly?
I saw a post a couple months back about this and thought a fix was in the works or to be done in a few days… if so any eta on that?

Andy - Have you tried setting your hidden questions to be hidden by default. It’s a function in the advanced logic settings in question edit form. This may help.

Yulia - Thanks for that suggestion!
I just tried that, and it was unsuccessful in solving the problem.
After setting it as you suggested, it wouldn’t let me past the first page.. I’m assuming that it is for some reason requiring the hidden questions to be answered? Since some of the hidden questions are “required”, that may be the case?
I tried with just the “Show When” rules, and it let me past the first page fine, but when I clicked “back”, None of the show/hide rules were working anymore. The original problem was solved (fields that should be hidden were showing), but instead, the hidden fields that should be up… weren’t.
Any other solutions to this?

Hi Andy,
Sorry about all these bugs, our lead developer is working on the problem now and in the process of some major bug squishing. This problem should be resolved soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello,
I am having the same issue with a question I’ve set up that shows/hides other questions based on the option selected. The main question and the option-based subquestions are all required. Has this bug been fixed or is there a workaround for it?
Thank you!,
Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,
We have made this more stable — so your hiding might work now. However the “true” fix for this is still about a week away.

Hi Christian,
Thanks so much for the quick reply back - glad to hear that it is still in progress for the fix and the timeline, looks like the problem is still happening for the survey I’ve created so hopefully the fix will work soon.
Thanks!,
Sylvia

Christian:
I am still having the issue described above. When a user misses a “required” question after hitting submit the appropriate Show/Hide questions do not appear.
Will we see successful results soon?

Hi lahill,
This will be fixed by the end of the week. I’ve done a complete ‘audit’ of bugs like this (rather than fixing them piece mail.
