I desperately need a way to turn the editor off by default.

My users are (for the most part) copying and pasting from Word, and going in and purifying the html so that css can have its desired effect, is a real pain.

So good news, if they are using IE it will automatically detect it is a paste from word and assist in stripping all of that out. If not, there is now a 'paste from word' option on the editor to assist with that. If you don't have that option, just refresh/reload the question editor page and the new version should show up. This was put in about an hour ago (along with other improvements to the editor).

On a mac right now actually, but the editor we have only auto-detects WORD pasting from IE… everyone gets the 'paste from word' option though.
