I am considering signing up for Survey Gizmo but would like to know more about the randomization options. Can I randomize blocks of questions? Can I randomize blocks of questions including page breaks? If not, is there a work-around? I would like to measure interest in 3 new product concepts and rotate the order of the concepts. But after each concept I need to ask a couple questions including several about expected price and then purchase interest at the real price point. I don’t want to reveal the real price until they have answered the questions about expected price but I want to be able to rotate that whole block of questions 3 times. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi Dorrie,

We have a number of randomization options.

[Survey Level - Page Randomization]

From Advanced Options in the survey editor you can randomize any number of pages in your survey (you choose which ones will be randomized).

[Page Level - Question Randomization]

Each page has an option to randomize questions on that page. You can also go into a question and “tie” it to another question so they will show up in order, or tell surveygizmo to ignore it when randomizing (great for images and instructions).

‘Matrix/Table/Group’ questions are randomized on a page, but their sub-questions are not at this level.

[Question Level - Row & Option randomization]

At the question level we support the randomization of horizontal and vertical options and multiple choice question options.

I hope that I answered your question!

Cheers,

-Christian

I would like to make a survey with 2 concepts and rotate the order of the concepts. But for each concept I need to ask a couple questions. I want to be able to rotate that whole block of questions.

I want to make a Randomization within group = RWG (within each concept) and a randomization between group = RBG (rotate the order of the concepts)

But the transition between Concept 1 and Concept 2 (and conversely) will appear seamless to participants. They will take one whole questionnaire.

That's why i don't know … because if I use a single page for each concept, the consumer see the transition between the 2 concepts. For each question i need to use one page… and after i need to group the pages of the Concept 1 together and the pages of the Concept 2 together … and after to make an RWG  and a RBG…

PLease Help me

(Sorry for each mistake, I'm french)

That is the only part I don't completely understand. However, you can randomize each page and also randomize the questions within the page, therefore making sure that they take 1 complete survey, but sometimes are asked Concept 1's page of questions first and Concept 2's page of questions 2nd, and other times it would be reversed. And since the questions are randomized on the page, they will have a unique order between survey takers.

Let me know if that is unclear or we are missing something.

I repeat :

1) I have 2 blocks (Block A with 16 questions / Block B with 12 questions)

2) I want just 1 question per page (because the transition between block A and Block B (and conversely) will appear seamless to participants. They will take one whole questionnaire.)  if I use just one page for each Block, the consumer will see the transition between the 2 Blocks when he will go to the next page (he will think, 12 questions for the first page and 16 for the second.. it's strange  .. and he will think that there is a difference). It's bad for my study, moreover it's better if the consumer see the questions one per one.

Just I want to make two groups of pages (Block A = 16 questions = 16 pages = The First group — Block B = 12 questions = 12 pages = The Second group )

I want to make a Randomization within group = RWG (within each block) and a randomization between group = RBG (rotate the order of the Block)

I hope that you understand but it's difficult to explain :(

—————————————————————————————-

For example:

It will be better if i could choose a number for each page (in option Page randomization). We could to randomize the pages who have the same number between them. ( in this example, we can randomize the pages who have the number (1) between them and the pages who have the numbers (2) between them. –> It's the RWG

Moreover we can make the same thing for the block A and B -> sometimes are asked Block A pages and after Block B pages and sometimes are asked Block B and after Block A –> it's the RBG

“New Model of” Page Randomization

These settings allow you to randomize the order of your pages in a survey.
Place a checkmark next to each page you would like randomized. (Tip: It helps if you title your pages in the editor).
If you're looking for Question randomization you'll find than under each page's details or option randomization by
editing a question.

Randomize Page                                      Block
Question 1 (1)                                        A
Question 2 (1)                                        A
Question 3 (2)                                        B
Question  4 (2)                                       B

Hi, Florian.

It seems you could use Branching (split testing) for the two blocks, put each question on it's own page and randomize each page. This would give you the two blocks and also give you the randomization within each group.

I hope this helps.

Hi Cheri,

Thank you for this informations but can you explain me a little bit more.

I made a Branching test for example because it's more easy to explain me. I have 6 questions (Block A = 3 questions ; Block B = 3 questions)

1) I put each question on it's own page  = I have 6 pages

2) How can I branch for to have 2 Blocks ??

3) I randomize each pages (I rotate the order of the page)

Be Careful :

1) I should to make a randomization between blocks and a randomization within blocks

2) I want just one question per page.

3) The user should to see all of the questions everytime (i can't to hide)

Thank You

We have no way to group pages together and randomize in that group PRIOR to moving onto another group of pages. The only way to do that sort of grouping is to put the questions all on one page (the group) and randomize those questions, then group b would be another page. The two pages/groups would be reordered.

That is the only way it is possible at the moment, you can only choose 2 of the 3 options below to work together, and you want all 3 which will not work together:

1) all questions on their own pages

2) randomize the question order

3) randomize the pages

Yes, i have seen… Cry

I made one question per page and i randomized all of the questions…

I hope that for the new version, i could to group pages together and randomize these groups.

Thank You
