How do I ask a question to which the answers should equal 100%?

For example, What percentage of your total purchases of clothing are:

<$50
>$50

I am using a multiple textbox and setting the field so that it autoformats as a % and limits the field to between 0 and 100. However, I would like to add an additional error-check that will stop the respondent from moving on if the answers do not equal 100%.

Hi Shoo,

You have chosen the wrong question type. If you would like to ask a question to which the answers equal 100%, you must do a continuous sum question. Once you have changed the question, go to “Advanced Edit Options for This Question.” Scroll down to “Advanced Formatting” and look for the text box that says “Max Total”. Set your Max Total to 100 and save your changes. You should be all set!
