i have been struggling with the right wording for my rating scale. I want my respondents to rate level of importance on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being not at all important and 5 being very important. Is there a way to use the multi-radio buttons table but have the heading as “(not important at all) 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 -5 ( very important)” I can put the numbers in one but would like to put the words to the left and right for numbers 1 and 5 only, but not in their respective columns. Adding them to columns 1 and 5 makes then so much wider than 2, 3, & 4.
right now I am using the wording ” not at all important, unimportant, neutral, important, 7 very important” but don’t think the “unimportant” fits as well as 1-5 would??

Hi Donna,

Hope you had a good weekend!

If you are using our “Stacked” or Scale rating question there are two options called “Left and Right Extremes in the advanced formatting section that will do exactly what you are looking for.

Cheers,

where do I find the “stacked” rating question?
I found the left and right extremes - and it looks like what I want but I want to include a list of factors to be rated in the same question. can this be done?

Hi Donna,
Unfortunately we don’t have the left and right extremes option for table questions (we could do it, but it just wouldn’t look right).

We would recommend either copying the rating the rating scale question a bunch of times.

Or you could try formating the headers of the Table for instance:

1
Not Very Important - 2 -3 -4 -5
Very Important

Or

Not Very Important - Two - Three- Four - Very Important

Either method makes it look a little better. Hope this helps!
