Hello Christian.

I thought I would come to the forum for this question, as it is likely to apply to other researchers:

I need a survey that can tally responses which will be given on a likert scale (so not simple yes/no answers), and give totalled scale scores to the participant when they hit the “Finish” button at the end of their survey.

I would like to give feedback to my participants because they can then compare their results with the average scores that have been published in previous studies. It is something that may encourage people to participate.

The likert scales take the form of “strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree”. Some items are reversed, so that a strongly disagree will be worth less points than a strongly agree in that item. In other items the strongly disagree is worth more than a strongly agree.

This is really getting into complex survey software that universities would love to know about. There seem to be few other survey software applications that can do this (none that I have found so far). Which leaves the researcher having to sort through the data, tally it and email responses back to participants.

Many thanks for your thoughts Christian.

Alison.

Hi Alison,

I am *almost* done with this (really). I had a few to many projects on my plate this last month — but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I’ll post a comment here the minute it launches!

how’s it going with that tallying up results and showing it to the participant?

i want to add up a 1 - 10 rating for a series of questions and give them a score 30-50 low 50 - 70 good 70-90 great 90-100 wow!

would that be possible? is it possible now?

Hi, I’m also interested in a survey format / template that can tally or total up responses, and display a total score at the completion of the survey. Can this be done with code / piping options?
Thanks, Paul

Hi, Paul.

It’s really easy to do this. Just login to your account and click the Create Quiz button on the left side of the page.

You can create either a pass/fail or a tally answer that adds up points.

On the Thank You page you will see a Quiz Score that you edit for the scoring system you want to use and the messages you want to show to the quiz takers after they complete the quiz.
