I have a question. We have a one page survey that we imbeded into our website. We have gotten a lot of abandoned respondents. Since it is only one page, I am not clear what happens if people fill the whole thing out but forget to hit submit. Does that register as an abandoned survey or as a partial? I am worried that we are loosing responses. Any help you could provide would be great.

Hi Josh,
The survey taker has to click to the next page of the survey for our system to get ANY data from them.

If the survey taker fills out the whole first page but does not click to the next page of the survey they will be recorded as an abandoned with no data.

A partial survey is when the survey taker clicks to the next page of the survey but doesn’t reach the end of the survey (the Thank You page).

A completed survey is when the survey taker reaches the end of the survey (the Thank You page).

Hope this helps,
Chad

Is an abandoned survey the same as a “click-thru?”

I suppose they could be considered similar, also a bounce would be another way to think of it (someone who visited the page and then left without acting).

A more detailed explanation can be found as a tutorial on abandons

reading the forum on Abandoned it is clear that if someone opens a survey and never does anything more then this counts as adandoned.  But is this true if the survey is embeded in one of my web pages?  I embed in http://www.vuuch.com/solution.html a survey, so if someone goes to this page and just reads it, does this count as abandoned?

Yes, if they just read the page and the survey loads, but they do not submit any data to SurveyGizmo this would count as an abandoned.

Thanks!

Hi, what about the case where we pass some value in to the survey in the first page. But the user did not do anything other than load up the survey. Would those values got saved as well?

Hey, Steve!

When you pass a value into the firs tpage, it loads it as a value into a form field, but if your respondent never clicks on the “Next” button, that form won't get submitted, so the data won't be stored.
