The MFP would like to invite the submission of workshop/presentation proposal materials for consideration at its upcoming 2015 Winter Training Institute (WTI) (February 4-7, 2015). All Presenter Information Forms should be submitted no later than
November 2, 2014.MFP WTI Overview
MFP Winter Training Institutes feature interactive seminars and advanced workshops with distinguished scholars and clinicians in the behavioral health field of marriage and family therapy. MFP Fellows gain an opportunity to learn from, and interact with, presenters in the areas of cultural sensitive interventions with ethnic minority populations, as well as, the integration of advanced quantitative research modalities.
The Minority Fellowship Program is a national workforce development program that seeks to- through collaboration with federal agencies like the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and leading behavioral health professional associations like AAMFT- increase the number of culturally competent behavioral health practitioners who provide substance abuse and other mental health services to underserved minority populations.
Presentation Criteria
Presentations materials for the WTI will be reviewed for the following:
- Quality
- Congruency with SAMHSA Initiatives
- Congruency with MFP Training Plan
- Feasibility of proposed workshop/presentation within WTI format
- Relevance to MFT and wider behavioral health field
Presentations should clearly speak to the presenation criteria as indicated above with clearly outlined congruency with
SAMHSA Strategic Initiatives, the mission of the AAMFT Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) and format of the MFP Winter Training Institute (WTI). The MFP would encourage those with expertise in areas related to
LGBTQ issues or
Asian American issues to apply. Please note that only one form should be submitted per presenter.
Final selections will be made by
November 13, 2014- notifications will be issued on or by that date.

Presentation Material Requirements:
- PowerPoint copy of presentation, handouts, and additional reading materials must be provided to MFP no later than December 13, 2014
- Note that internet service cannot be guaranteed in the presentation room
Presenter Availability Requirements:
- All presenters must be available for brief online discussions with MFP Fellows before and after the WTI (dates: January 21 - February 12, 2015)
Compensation & Reimbursable Expenses
Presenters who are not Alumni of the MFP are eligible for a presenter honorarium consistent with AAMFT’s presenter remuneration rates. For more information please feel free to contact us at mfp@aamft.org.
Upon request, the AAMFT MFP will provide one round trip airline ticket and hotel accommodations for the duration of the required presentation engagement. AMMFT MFP will be billed directly for the cost of the ticket which must be booked at least 30 days prior to travel. Additional expenses related to travel for the WTI can also be reimbursed consistent with AAMFT reimbursement policies. These expenses include:
- Meal purchases
- Checked baggage charges
- Taxi (ground transport)
