The Geology and Geography section of AAAS (Section E) is excited to announce an AAAS Annual Meeting Fellowship for students and early career scientists who are enrolled in, or employed at, U.S. institutions to attend the 2013 AAAS Annual Meeting in Boston, to take place on February 14-18, 2013. This Fellowship is intended to encourage young scientists to be more involved with the AAAS. There will be a variety of programs of interest at the Meeting, and the Section will organize a social event where the awardees will meet other members and Fellows of the Section. Participation at this Meeting will allow awardees to attend career development activities, the chance to meet with other geoscientists, and the opportunity to have a look at what is new in other sciences and in science policy. For this program, early career scientists are defined as those within 3 years of receiving their Ph.D. Each award is anticipated to be a maximum of $1,000. To apply, please submit the following items by December 1, 2012. - A short application: including a cover letter addressing your reasons for attending the meeting and a prioritized budget of expenses - 1-page résumé - A transcript of your coursework to date (students only) - If you are presenting a poster, provide a copy of the approved abstractFUNDING: A limited number of travel fellowships of up to $1,000 will be available. By accepting the award, all successful applicants agree to submit a short online post-meeting report describing the value of attending the AAAS meeting for their career by March 15, 2013.
