This FLC will investigate pedagogies of civic learning that help students to develop knowledge, skills and values essential for developing civic identity and engagement.

Eligible applications are limited to 8 faculty. Per ITL guidelines, preference for 4 of the 8 faculty will go to those in STEM. Qualified applicants must be able to make all meetings, and will be open to new discovery in their own teaching and learning, willing to experiment and share new approaches with like-minded colleagues.

Application is due Monday, January 28, 2013.

I agree to the following terms:

I commit to attend the Opening Event on Friday, February 15, 2013, as well as nine (9) additional meetings to be held on Fridays, from 10:00 am to Noon on the following dates: 3/15; 4/19; 5/17; 6/7; 9/13; 10/18;11/29. There will also be an additional meeting, a presentation to the Academic Senate. The closing retreat will be held on December 6, 2013.

Mandatory attendance is mandatory. I understand that if I miss more than one meeting I am subject to disqualification from the FLC.

I will have one deliverable: either a well-defined plan for embedding community engagement in my discipline, a draft of a manuscript for publication, or a research project/student outcome assessment project relevant to a course I teach

I will have an opportunity to present my individual project to the CSULA campus community.
