Expedition Acknowledgement

Dear Expedition Travelers,
Unlike a “regular” ExperiencePlus! tour, our Expeditions are all about covering expansive territory through areas that have seen few tourists. They’re about adventure and the challenge of pedaling across a continent, or from one end of a country/region to the other. Due to the unique nature of these trips and in order set clear expectations please review our list of some of the differences between ExpeditionPlus! tours and ExperiencePlus! tours.

MILEAGE ON EXPEDITIONPLUS! TOURS – per day mileage will be significantly longer (75 to 100 miles a day) than ExperiencePlus! tours. Some Expeditions also feature mountainous terrain. Check the “tour facts” page for additional information.
LODGING - Hotels often will not be inspected in advance and will be of varying quality depending on the location and what’s available in the region.
DAILY BRIEFINGS - Though we'll hold daily briefings, we will not have all the answers
ROUTES / ROAD CONDITIONS- Road conditions cannot be guaranteed and you will almost surely hit some construction, and gravel or dirt roads along the journey. Though there is a local guide from each country you travel through they may or may not have ridden the route in advance. Expect that there will be occasions where tour leaders will need to adjust the day’s route on the fly.
VAN SUPPORT – Van support will be limited so we expect you to be prepared to ride the entire distance every day and be able to change a tire if you should get a flat. Instead of seeing the van throughout the day, you may only see it once. If you are very far ahead of other cyclists in the group you may not see the van at all. If you should need a ride know that you may have to wait until after the van has arrived at the hotel, deposited the luggage and doubles back for you.
DAILY DEPARTURE TIME - To allow for our navigational chalk arrows to be marked ahead of the cyclists, and because of hotel limitations on how early breakfast is served, leaving before 8:00 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. is usually not possible. If you choose to skip breakfast and cycle ahead without arrows you will be on your own to navigate, and you will not see the support van unless the rest of the group catches up to you. We advise against starting your cycling day without nourishment.
MEALS – Dinners together may be buffet style to make meals quicker and will not include alcoholic drinks. Depending on the population density and availability of lunch stops, we may have packed lunches so that you have flexibility to eat when you prefer in remote areas. Please refer see the tour facts for more information. While we do our best to accommodate dietary preferences know that in some areas variety will be limited or unavailable. Be prepared by bringing supplemental food/snacks that you require from home.
