Equines and their links to Culicoides Biting Midges

This questionnaire is being used to collect information on the exposure of horses to Culicoides biting midges as part of a collaborative research project. The project, funded by the Horse Race Betting Levy Board (HBLB), is investigating the impact of sweet itch and the potential impact of an outbreak of African horse sickness virus in the UK, together with testing potential control measures that could be employed by horse owners.

The aim of this questionnaire is to investigate the incidence of sweet itch in the UK and attempt to identify any factors which may affect the amount of contact horses have with Culicoides biting midges, the vectors of this virus.
