With our transition to instruction and assessment for all students with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) we are designing an alternate assessment aligned to the CCSS for students with significant cognitive disabilities. The assessment design will put instructional relevance out in front while providing students with access to the greater breadth of the Common Core.

In order to build a strong assessment, input from expert practitioners is essential. There are many ways for educators and other stakeholders to be involved in this process. For all activities we need educators who have a variety of experiences that represent both urban and rural districts from our ESDs across the state.

I am very much looking forward to working with everyone to build the best program possible for our students.
