As Dr. Hazard stated in the workshop, "Locus of Control is a generalized expectancy that people have regarding the degree to which they can control their own fate, really it's how do people make sense of their experiences? Some people tend to be more Internal and some people tend to be more External."

Those with an internal locus of control tend to think outcomes are contingent upon their own hard work and effort.

Those with an external locus of control tend to think outcomes are from external variables such as luck, fate, chance, and powerful others.
