Community Development Priorities Survey

Page One

The Portland African American Leadership Forum (PAALF) and the North/Northeast Business Association (NNEBA) are working in collaboration to collect and promote ideas for the development of the property located at NE Martin Luther King Blvd and Alberta Street and other city-owned vacant lots. We believe that community members should have control over the development and management of their neighborhoods. As such, we would like your input and vision for the site!

This survey is one component of a community visioning process seeking to collect information from neighboring residents, business owners, organizational representatives and community members who at one time lived in but are still connected to the North and Northeast Portland.

Our Goals:
Model an inclusive and transparent visioning process that engages all community members.
Advocate for institutional support in order to make the results tangible.
Provide the city with a community consensus around development of the MLK/Alberta property and other city –owned sites.

We will use the results of this survey to develop potential project proposals for the site, which we will present to the community for feedback at our community visioning session on February 25 from 6pm-8pm. We hope you can join us!

Leading up to the visioning session, we will host a community meeting on February 18 from 6pm-9pm to discuss the issue of gentrification and how it has impacted various community members' position on this issue. This will allow us to build a common sense of understanding prior to the visioning session.
