I am a researcher and radio producer interested in current and future trends in radio feature and documentary production. As a producer of radio, I invite you to participate in this study. What does the research involve?
The aim of the study is to survey and interview freelance and/or early career radio producers about their approach to radio feature and documentary production, how they understand the genre and medium, what inspires them and how they listen to radio themselves. This research will feed in to a larger project about the methodology of radio feature and documentary production and changing storytelling styles. This project is mapping trends in documentary production and hence is interested in what radio producers entering the profession think of the genre and where it might be headed.
The study is divided into two parts. Participants can chose to participate in the survey only or both the survey and interview:
- Survey: The survey consists of open-ended questions and is anonymous. Pseudonyms will be used in the publication of results. The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
- Interview: If you are interested to speak about your experience as radio producer in more depth, I invite you to also be interviewed for the study. The interview is expected to take 45-60 minutes. Participants will be asked to talk specifically about their own work and their background in radio production.
It is expected that research outputs from this project will include conference papers and journal articles. You can contact me for these details.
