Book Launch Project Proposal

Instructions

The Book Launch program provides an opportunity to write and produce digital texts to be used in teaching and learning at Ohio State and beyond. Accepted proposals will become part of a cohort — a group of teams or individuals from around the university who each have a digital book they’ll be working to complete during the Book Launch project cycle. Cohort members will attend three bootcamps together during this five month period, complete a project plan, get 1:1 and group training from the Office of Distance Education and eLearning, and provide feedback and support to each other throughout the process.

Please note: Ideal candidates will be prepared to enter the cohort with organized content, roughly 75% of which is in final, edited form.

Winners receive Office of Distance Education & eLearning staff expertise (up to 80 hours) and financial resources (either $1000 or $500 from ODEE, depending on whether the final work is openly licensed or not, with a $500 department match). The Office of Distance Education & eLearning also provides equipment, training and support to facilitate book production throughout the project lifecycle. A MacBook Air will be provided to each Book Launch author to use throughout the 5-month cohort.

You may save your progress with this online form and return to complete your application at a later time; however, you are encouraged to keep a draft copy elsewhere (Word, Notepad, SimpleText, etc.) as a back-up. To save your progress, click on the top bar named "Save and continue application later" and supply your preferred email address. You will be provided a link via email to continue your saved application. Note, the save bar will appear starting on the second page of the application.

Book Launch project proposals are due Friday, October 23, 2015, for the cohort beginning January 2016.
