The City of Greater Geelong (CoGG) is at the forefront of climate change mitigation and adaptation amongst local Councils across Australia. The Council has previously developed the Greenhouse Response 2008-2011 and the Low Carbon Growth Plan for Greater Geelong, which have both resulted in a range of projects and initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the municipality.
CoGG is now undertaking a review of the municipality’s overarching Greenhouse Strategy to ensure that it is updated and reflective of the priorities of both the Council and the Geelong community.
The objective of the Greenhouse Strategy Review is to create a new roadmap for CoGG’s response to corporate and community greenhouse gas emissions. It will establish an updated greenhouse gas emissions profile, propose carefully considered emission reduction targets and identify and prioritise opportunities for emissions reduction. It will also adopt a set of indicators and a process to ensure progress is objectively monitored and reported, and the impact of emissions reduction activities is assessed.
In order to inform the Greenhouse Strategy Review, CoGG would like your view on climate change mitigation and the actions that Council could take to minimise the greenhouse gas emissions of our municipality. Please take a moment to consider the following questions and
complete the survey by 5pm Sunday 14 December 2014.
