Congratulations on beginning the process to become a Positive Discipline Trainer by completing the application to become a Positive Discipline Trainer Candidate.
Please complete the application and Letter of Intent.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU
- Identify yourself as a Positive Discipline Trainer Candidate (PDTC) when presenting any Positive Discipline material.
- It is recommended before attending ACT that Trainer Candidates are active members of the Positive Discipline Association at the Trainer Candidate Level for a minimum of 1 year. This allows the Trainer Candidate to be actively learning through List Serve, working with a mentor, attending Think Tank and/or local Conferences, and benefiting from the Positive Discipline Community.
- Work with a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer (CPDT) mentor, the PDA List Serve, and a mentor group.
- Submit evaluations and documentation after every Parenting Class you facilitate or after any Classroom Work you complete to the Positive Discipline Association at act@positivediscipline.org. (Required documents can be found here.)
- Pay annual Positive Discipline Association Trainer Candidate Level membership fee ($125 USD).
- Develop your knowledge and understanding of Adlerian/Dreikursian and Positive Discipline theory and methods.
- Once certified as a Positive Discipline Trainer, your certification extends for three years. To re-certify, CPDTs are required to attend our Think Tank (at their own expense) at least every third year. It is highly recommended, but not required, for all PDTCs to attend Think Tank.
- As a CPDT, sponsor at least one Positive Discipline workshop a year (with the help of your mentor) and actively share Positive Discipline.
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE FROM THE PDA
- Participation in a thriving Positive Discipline community that emphasizes collaboration, encouragement and commitment. You'll find a passionate dedication to this work and an investment in personal and professional growth for our membership as individuals and as an organization.
- Extensive training to increase your understanding of the Positive Discipline and Adlerian principles, as well as to increase your competencies with experiential facilitation, the Positive Discipline curriculum and applications to various populations and needs.
- Mentoring throughout your training period and on-going via the e-mail List Serve, the CPDT manual, Think Tank, the workshop manuals, and personal contact with CPDTs, a personal mentor, a local mentoring group where available, or US/European virtual mentoring groups.
- Once a year at "Think Tank," the PDA's annual members-only conference, you will have the opportunity to be surrounded by many enthusiastic Certified Positive Discipline Trainers and Trainer Candidates, for professional development, quality assurance, networking, and to share experiences and activities.
- Resources for marketing and training including access to new activities, marketing and training tools, translations of basic material, etc.
- Discounts on training and resource material -- plus free teleconferences available in the Resource Section of the PDA website with your membership renewal.
