Attitude of young adults towards smoking and alcohol

Dear participant,

Before taking part in this study, please read the informed consent form below.

You are being asked to take part in a research study where the general research goals for this study is to evaluate whether there exists an association between young men and women’s negative mood and/or their current stress level and their attitude towards the use of alcohol and smoking.

In this study, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire without giving any information which can identify you. The answering of the questionnaire takes approximately 15-20 minutes, but you can save and continue your survey whenever you wish to do so. The only thing which is required is for you to write your email adress. You will then be emailed a unique URL to return to the place where you left off in the survey.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw from this study at any time without any consequences or explanation.
You have the right to ask that any data which you have supplied to the point of your withdrawal, shall be deleted with no consequences.

There will not be any possibility to relate the data provided to the information which you have given.
These records will be kept private in so far as permitted by law.

There are no compensation for participating in this study, but, by participating you will be a beneficial and important addition to our research. You will also have an opportunity to contribute to psychological science. The findings from this study could potentially lead to a better understanding of the impact negative mood and stress may have on young adult’s attitude towards their drinking and smoking behavior, and thus promote further research in this field.

Finally, keep in mind that we are not interested in any specific individual’s response, but whether the attitude of young adults towards their drinking and smoking behavior may change depending on the negative mood and/or the stress state the individual have.

- I understand that the questionnaire in this study are not for diagnostic purposes, it is also not adequate for diagnostic purposes and neither will it be used in this manner for this study.
- Questions about my participation in this study have been answered satisfactorily.
