The Chemical Educational Foundation® (CEF) is currently working on the redesign for the Fifth Edition of the YBTC Activity Guides, which will be released in late 2016. CEF is looking for feedback from educators to ensure that these award-winning lesson plans continue to be a great educational resource and that the next edition is better than ever! 4. How useful do you find the current Differentiation in the Classroom section? How would you suggest this section be improved?

For example, CEF is considering adding more defined and shortened objectives that will guide educators depending on the level of difficulty that they would like to focus on. However, this updated section would exclude the background information so that it is more focused and precise. Would you find this update helpful?

5. How helpful were the scientific explanations in the Background and Chemical Formulas and Equations sections? Are there any specific topics or explanations that could be improved?

Additional Resources and Other Updates

For the Fifth Edition Activity Guides, CEF hopes to incorporate the 5E (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) constructivist learning cycle to better aid and guide educators in planning and performing the experiments found in the Activity Guides.

Based on your current use of the Activity Guides, would you prefer to have a 5E lesson plan integrated throughout each experiment or provided as a separate, completed 5E lesson plan handout?
