The efsli Deaf Interpreters spring seminar will be run on 13th and 14th of June 2015 in Berlin at Yomma www.yomma.de

The theme of the spring seminar is ” Deaf Interpreters as Community Interpreters“
– Presentation: Diversity in the Deaf Community
– Presentation: The A-Z of an interpreting assignment
– Presentation and Discussion: Public relations work
– Workshop: Where can I work as Deaf interpreter?
– Workshop: Working in diverse settings
– Workshop: Dealing with variation in communication
– Work groups: What do I need (to know) as Deaf interpreter?
– Practical examples
 
Leaders: Mandy Gnerlich and Benedikt J. Feldmann.
Benedikt J. Feldmann and Mandy Gnerlich are governmental certified deaf interpreters from Berlin. They work mostly in community interpreting. Berlin is a multi-cultural melting pot where a variety of deaf people from many nations, with a broad range of educational background live. As a result, Benedikt and Mandy have experienced many ways of interpreting in the community and will share their experience with us.
 
The structure of the seminar is as follows:
Saturday, 13th of June 2015 from 13:00 – 18:00
Sunday, 14th of June 2015 from 10:00 – 16:00

13th June:
Early Afternoon:
– Introduction and Opening Presentations
– Presentation: Diversity in the Deaf Community
– Presentation: The A-Z of an interpreting appointment
Late Afternoon:
– Presentation and Discussion: Public relations work
– Workshop: Where can I work as Deaf interpreter?

14th June:
Morning:
– Workshop: Working in diverse settings
– Workshop: Dealing with variation in communication
Afternoon:
– Work groups: What do I need (to know) as Deaf interpreter?
– Practical examples
– Summary and Concluding Remarks
