We're delighted that you are interested in volunteering for Empty Closets Community Services.
As a US 501(c)(3) public charity, Empty Closets is completely reliant on the generous donations of time and expertise (and, for those who are able, money) from our members and supporters to keep all of EC's programs and services running smoothly.
Right now, about 20 volunteers contribute a combined total of over 1000 hours a month to ECCS. As traffic to our website, activity in our online community, and projects we are undertaking, have all increased, so has our need for volunteer staff to make things happen. We're actively seeking additional volunteers, in a variety of areas, to support our growth and allow us to provide a wider variety of resources to a larger community of people.
Volunteer Opportunities at ECCS:
Historically, ECCS volunteers have focused primarily on managing the online community, and the volunteers filling those roles remain among the most vital resource we have to keep the forums the safe and welcoming place they are.
As our organization has grown (and with the expansion plans we have for the future), we're in need of much more than just moderators, advisors, and people that keep the online community running.
Volunteering at EC can be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Volunteers have the opportunity to interact and get to know one another (virtually, anyway) and for those of you building resumes, your volunteer work at EC can be a nice addition, and admins are able to provide recommendation letters for qualified staff in need of them.
Additionally, one of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering for EC is knowing that you are making a real difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable people... teens as well as adults that are struggling and may not have anyone around them that can support them. EC has been a lifesaver (literally!) for thousands of individuals, and a source of enrichment, knowledge, and support for (again, literally) millions of others over its 10+ years of existence. That's an astounding number of people, and all of that comes from the individual members who post here, and the staff that supports the community and helps to keep it safe.

Development and Fundraising Team
-- Grant writers, Person-to-person networkers, Fundraisers
Content and Media Team
-- Graphic Designers, Writers, Producers of articles, videos, and photos for the content portion of EC
Operations Team
