Information on the Organization

About WEA membership (extract from WEA's By-Laws):

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) is a global alliance of members whose identity and vocation are rooted in historic biblical Christianity. The WEA affirms and seeks the Biblical unity of Christ’s body, the Church, with its diversity of practices and theological emphases, when consistent with its Statement of Faith, while recognizing the challenges which inevitably arise between unity and diversity. The members of the WEA join in common concern to live and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ among all nations and peoples, seeking holiness, justice and transformation at every level of society, that is individual, family, community and culture. In this way God the Father is honored, the Kingdom of His Son is extended and the Holy Spirit’s empowering presence moves freely in giftings, community renewal and ministry.

Types of Members

1) National Evangelical Alliances

A representative body of evangelicals in a country can apply for membership as a National Evangelical Alliance (NEA). If accepted as a member by its regional alliance, the NEA will automatically become a member of WEA. Where there is no regional alliance in the region the applicant applies directly to the WEA. Unless exceptionally agreed by the International Council (the “Council”), a country can only have one NEA as a member of the WEA.

2) Regional Evangelical Alliances

Regional Alliances shall be members of WEA made up of national alliances in a specific global region.

3) Affiliate Members

Affiliate Members are independently incorporated organizations with their own specific ministries and accountability, an international scope of ministry across at least two regions, and the capacity and authority to serve in and beyond the WEA community.

4) Trans-national Denominations and Church Networks

These members are denominations or networks of churches which are located in a number of countries in at least two regions and which are organized with a written constitution.
