Energy Roundtable: Dispute resolution in a new era of Oil & Gas

Roundtable Workshop - Dispute Resolution in a New Era of Oil & Gas

Date:    Wednesday 16 September 2015
Time:     8:30-10:30am (with refreshments from 8:15)
Venue: Friars House
  160 Blackfriars Road
  Southwark, London SE1 8EZ
CPD:     2 hours

The oil & gas sector faces an almost unprecedented array of geopolitical, economic, regulatory and environmental challenges. The market is changing fast, and so are the disputes which market participants are facing.

This breakfast roundtable workshop will discuss those issues, and in particular:

  • The oil price crash – is it all quiet on the Western Front, or the quiet before the storm? Why haven’t we seen the deluge of disputes some might have predicted?

  • The Oil & Gas Authority and the new regulatory regime – will the OGA really introduce Sir Ian Wood’s recommendations on reducing commercial disputes in the UKCS, and in particular, how will the new regulator intervene in commercial conflicts?

  • Gas price reopeners – have we seen the end of them, or does the crash in the oil price herald a new era of price review arbitrations? If the latter, is arbitration fit for purpose as a dispute resolution mechanism, or is there a better way?

You can attend the roundtable workshop for just £129 + VAT (or £99 + VAT if you have a subscription to Learn, Develop, Connect – Practical Law’s online learning solution at legalpd.com)
