RainReady Survey Dunning

Dear Community Member, Neighbor, Landlord or Business,

By Neighbors For Neighbors , a newly created local organization, is working with the RainReady program carried out by the Center for Neighborhood Technology, a Chicago-based non-profit, the City of Chicago's green partner, who would like to help us assess the impact of heavy rain on homes and businesses. This survey is supported by the office of State Senator John Mulroe, 38th Ward Alderman Nick Sposato and Dunning Neighborhood OrganizationIt can be found and completed via their websites.

Your answers to the survey questions are completely confidential and will be released only as summaries in which no individual’s answers can be identified. It is voluntary and can be completed by anyone who owns or rents property in the community.

We understand that not everyone floods in the area but too many of us do.  This survey will help us identify the key flood locations and the types of flooding that occur. These are the two key pieces of information that the civil engineers said were necessary to solving the flooding issues in the area. Local input is critical to solving the flooding problems.

Over the course of the next year we will assemble for a public flood forum to learn more about the Rain Ready program which will help address flooding issues identified in the survey. The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District will also share an update on the work being done around Cook County in an effort to minimize flooding.

The time to complete the survey is now.  It will help us gauge the flood impact in the community and to seek appropriate remedies.  If you have any questions or comments about this study, CNT would be happy to talk with you. Contact Burrell Poe at bpoe@cnt.org or call 773-269-2213 during regular business hours.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,

Janina Skura Staniszewski
