Stories for Medicare Mental Health Access Act - 2015

Story Collection Survey

APAPO is continuing to advocate for the Medicare Mental Health Access Act.  This legislation would end Medicare’s unnecessary requirement that psychologists be supervised by a physician when they work in certain treatment facilities such as partial hospitalization programs, hospital outpatient departments, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and home health programs, among others.  The legislation would accomplish this by adding psychologists to Medicare’s list of professionals defined as “physician.”

Personal examples of problems and headaches caused by the physician oversight requirement will help us demonstrate to members of Congress the need to support the Medicare Mental Health Access Act.

Please complete this short survey to help APAPO collect fresh anecdotes from psychologists working in facilities about how Medicare’s physician supervision requirement is affecting the care provided to Medicare patients.
