10. Team Parents are mainly in place to support the coaching staff and share communication responsibilities, but the most important part of the job is to make sure that all of the players are having fun and being rewarded for their hard work on the field.
This position is one of the most demanding, yet rewarding volunteer positions in any youth organization. While at first it might seem overwhelming, once the season gets rolling and you get to know the families on your team, many of these jobs can and should be shared by all of the parents on the team.
Here are a few of the main responsibilities:
• Communication from the Coach and/or Board to the Parents.
• Communication from the Parents to the Coach and/or Board.
• Managing the Team Kitty expenses – which includes organization and maintenance of Certification Books, team lanyards, shakers, year-end gifts, etc.
• Maintaining contact information for all parents/guardians throughout the season
• Pre-season party
• Promoting and organizing the Jr. Cougar Fundraising activities within your team
• Working with the Director of Volunteer Management to ensure all activities are covered
• Working with the Director of Special Events for your team’s year-end banquet
• Promoting Team Spirit within the players, parents, and families.
I understand that the role of Team Parent is time consuming and demanding.

As appropriate, I will share this information with coaches and/or the Jr. Cougar Board. If a child's safety or wellness is at all in question, I will immediately report the possible issue to the VP of Operations, or President and/or other Board member if not available. This is OUR program, and peoples' participation and feedback is very important.
