Application for Institutional Placement

The Health Security Innovators Small Grants program supports Pakistani scientists interested in advancing health security practices and policies in their country. Small grants are available for travel support, project seed funding, local/global competitions, and institutional placement.

Institutional placement support is awarded to an individual who would like to participate in an internship, field placement, or other hands-on learning opportunity at an instiutionfor a fixed period of time. For example, HSP may provide a small grant for a stipend to cover a student's travel and living expenses to work in a provincial clinical lab for 3 months.

Grants are open to individualsin the government, academic, and private sectors across Pakistan. Scientists in public health, veterinary, and agriculture are encouraged to apply.
Grants vary depending on the scope of proposals. The award amounts range from US$4,000 - $18,000. Applicants are encouraged to develop low cost, high impact proposals, as outlined in the grant criteria below.
Grantee recipients agree to provide the following to Health Security Partners:
  • Detailed monthly progress reports with activities, photos, etc.
  • Final report with lessons learned, success stories, challenges identified, and future engagement
Applicants are strongly encouraged to keep these 5 criteria in mind as they are developing their institutional placement proposal. A review committee of subject-matter experts will evaluate proposals based on the following criteria:
  • Does your institutional placement help address a global health security challenge?
  • Is your project that you will complete during your placement innovative? Does it propose a unique approach?
  • Does your placement and project leverage local resources, build upon existing work (research, programs, etc.), and/or support collaboration with other local stakeholders?
Please note that the application review process may take 8-12 weeks.
