Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award 2016

Guidelines for submitting a nomination:

The Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award, developed by the Academic Advising Council, recognizes a faculty member who has had a positive influence on students through academic advising. The award recipient will receive a $1,200 cash stipend and will be recognized by the President at Fall Conference, in addition to having his/her name posted on a perpetual plaque in the Kennedy Library. Questions can be directed to advising@calpoly.edu.

Teaching styles and classroom experiences will not be taken into consideration for the selection criteria.

All nominations are due by Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

One faculty member is recognized annually and previous recipients will not be allowed to win again. A faculty member is someone formally engaged in classroom and/or laboratory instruction.

Nomination is to be based upon the faculty’s academic advising efforts related to:

major and support coursework selection
concentration and elective coursework selection
interpretation of courses
Senior project
mentorship
internship selection or supervision
career/graduate school planning and selection
referral to appropriate support services

Your response may be no more than 300 words.
Teaching styles and classroom experiences will not be taken into consideration; however, you are encouraged to nominate this person for the Distinguished Teaching Award or for college-specific awards recognizing teaching excellence.
