Update to Food Truck Vendor Requirements

Introduction

Update to Food Truck Vendor Requirements

The 2012 Outdoor Vendor Ordinance did not include restrictions on duration of continuous operation or requiring food trucks to move off-site and remain off-site for a certain period of time.  Since 2012, some outdoor vendors, including food truck and trailer operators, have set up semi-permanent locations for vending on private property.

The intent of the original 2012 Code provisions for mobile food truck vendor operations was to ensure a mobile operation and address specific mobile vendor impacts and requirements as a temporary, accessory land use.  The proposed changes address a range of operational requirements for the duration outdoor vendors can operate on privately-owned lots on a temporary basis to ensure increased mobility.

Staff has been asked to reassess options for food truck vendor mobility options considering a land use process.  Staff has identified potential new options for food truck vendors operating in the City on private property, and separation distance from existing restaurants.  Current provisions for operating on public property, including on-street and within the Downtown concession area are not affected by the proposed changes. We welcome your feedback by taking this short questionnaire.  The purpose of this questionnaire is to provide additional feedback in addition to public meetings, and not intended to be a statistically valid survey.  This questionnaire will be open until Friday April 29, 2016 (5:00 P.M.).
