The GEAR UP Alumni Leadership Academy application timeline is as follows:

April 1, 2016:
Application Due. Applications will be accepted through April 1, 2016. Applicants will be required to submit application materials, including a transcript, essays, and a recommendation from their corresponding GEAR UP Program before the due date. NCCEP will develop a review panel to read applications and select up to 30 Alumni Leaders from the applications submitted.

Recommendation Form Due from GEAR UP Program. GEAR UP Programs must submit their endorsement of the applicant before April 1, 2016. As part of the application process, GUALA applicants must connect with their current or former GEAR UP Program to request a recommendation. GEAR UP Program endorsement of an applicant is vital to ensuring that students have the support they need to succeed during their year as a GEAR UP Alumni Leader.

Mid-April: Select and Notify GEAR UP Alumni Leaders. GEAR UP Alumni Leaders will be notified of their selection and will be required to confirm acceptance of the 12-month commitment, which includes their required attendance at the D.C. Alumni Leadership Training (June 12-18, 2016). The corresponding GEAR UP Program will also be notified to confirm support for the GEAR UP Alumni Leader throughout their 12-month commitment.

Late-April: Announce the new GUALA Class. NCCEP will share the news broadly and collaborate with local GEAR UP programs, and the student's postsecondary institution, to maximize media opportunities.

June 12-18, 2016: GEAR UP Alumni Leadership Training Week in Washington, DC.
