Beyond Zero Emissions (BZE) is an independent climate solutions think tank best known for its
Zero Carbon Australia plan. As part of its recently launched
Zero Carbon Communities Initiative, BZE is conducting a review into current council (including community) commitments and actions to reduce emissions to uncover 'high ambition' initiatives and develop a blueprint to assist all communities moving forward.
At Paris COP21 in December 2015, more than 1000 mayors, coming from all five continents, pledged to support
‘ambitious long-term climate goals such as a transition to 100% renewable energy in our communities'. Around the world,
countless towns and cities around the world are already working towards this transition. In Australia, increasing numbers of councils have also committed to
zero emissions in rapid timeframes.
The information provided via this survey will be de-identified and published in an aggregated form and will supplement research by BZE volunteers via phonecalls and council websites.
